i have 21.000 cargo capacity, and nice mining and refining skills, but for one full cargohold of omber, in the end i had gotten out like 1,2 million isk.
i mean, for a normal player, a lvl 4 mission with 10 omber asteroids (with 40.000 omber in each of them) is the best possible situation for a miner in high sec (except maybe if you can scan and find a hidden asteroid belt but i cant scan)
but 1,2 million after what? 20 - 30 minutes of mining? thats just ridiculous compared to what i can make in lvl 4 missions solo.
then i went to some mining agent to test out if i could make more money there. i can do only lvl 2 there, and didnt expect to much, but the mining mission itself was even more ridiculous (fly 3 minutes towards the asteroid then mine for like 5 minutes) then fly back and hand it to the agent and get like 160.000 isk from it.
im so frustrated atm im almost about to delete my char and quit eve online. i also passed on an offer to join a huge 0.0 alliance, and bought my hulk in high sec instead (and spent all my money on it). maybe i could have joined the alliance later when i had enough money again to buy a battleship in 0.0 (which is doubteable for a particular reason that i could have had joined later. if i wanted to join i would have to join today) but for now i passed out on the offer, so i can buy my hulk, just to notice that the income i can get out of it is pathetic compared to the effort i had put into it.
or am i doing something wrong there and a hulk can be a really good income in high sec?
before im deleting my char i want to hear your opinions what i could do better to get a reasonable income from my hulk in empire space.
/edit: i have to say i havent been much into manufacturing (except ammo) because when i calculated through the costs of minerals to produce something, i would even make a loss when compared to the isk that i could make when im selling the refined minerals. so manufacturing doesnt seem to be a solution either as it looks now

1. Can I have your stuff?
On a more serious note, Omber is I think the most worthless ore right now due to the isogen prices being tanked. Veldspare is worth more. You can use a site like evegeek.com and use the ore calculator to see how much money you will get from each m3 of or or the total units of ore which is very helpful. Just try to mine something other then omber.

Get mining plagioclase or kernite - You can make 8-10 millions per hour.

So? Learn it and go mine lots of Omber, Kernite, Jaspet, Hemorphite & Hedbergite. Also, mining Omber on and off from missions never brings in the same amount of ISK as mining the asteroid belts normally. Also, Omber itself isn't worth much, I only mine it for the Isogen.

problem with mining in eve is that mineral prices sucks pretty much, its almost usless mining in empire. IF you dont go to low sec but then you will need protection because eve loves griefers. Hey eve is pvp based and there hasnt been any good changes for miners. _______________________________________________________________ Quote: [22:28] <Druid> as far as I know the BPO's were gotten legitimately.

Uh, you start by saying you were mining in a level 4 site you cleared then you say that you went broke buying a hulk and can't afford a battleship or hulk in 0.0. That really doesn't make sense. Bust out a bunch of level 4s for a week to fatten the purse and then move. Some folks like mining in mission sites for the peace and quiet but I don't think anyone does it because it's more lucrative than running the missions.

Downing the Slavers has 400k worth of Omber. With my 2nd acct hauling I can mine 167k omber in a hour. Divide by 500 ( amount need to refine) and then multiply by 307 for the isogen. Gets you about 102,538 iso in a hour. Multiply by 60 (current isk value) and thats a bit more than 6 mil a hour.
So to the OP I suggest getting:
1)Train your mining skills up some more (can you use T2 omber crystals in your strips)?
2)Get your drone skills up. T2 mining drones are almost worth one strip miner.
3)Hauling your own ore cuts down on efficiency.
4)Also there is about 540k veld and 200k+ of Scordite.
You won't get rich, but then no griefers will come around either. Good mission for when you have other afk things to do.

Mining in Empire can only be so good. This you must understand as empire mining is not a get rich quick scenario.
Due to the changes in prices omber isnt worth anywhere close to what it was say 1 year ago but things change and maybe they tides will turn on isogen in the future.
The problem with mining in empire has alot to do with macro's and its killing the economy which is a shame but all we can do is point fingers and rant and rave and still we would have them.
Its not CCP's fault they cant be everywhere nor track everyones key clicks
Hope u can make sense of what i said as i start to ramble when i type for more than 15 words ---------------

Find a new profession. High sec mining solo is in the tank. Just supply and demand.

Edited by: Tamahra on 04/02/2008 16:06:46 that what bothers me with eve online is that for all the really good things a 2nd account is almost mandatory
especially having a capital ship, to move it around you need to cyno it with an alt, or when you want to mine in 0.0 you need an alt to tank. Even with a super duper fitted hulk most ppl say its way to stressy to do it all alone
im not saying i want to do everything solo. i like being grped with others, but theres not always someone around who can tag along with cynoing or tanking for your hulk. not saying that i would have a capital, i dont have one, but one day i would like to have one i think.

My $0.02: First, don't mine in missions. You may be getting a mineral that you usually can't get, but you will more then likely be missing out the mission bonus. Second, there is plenty of omber in 0.5 space, and if you are in a part of the galaxy that does not have omber, they you probably have kernite instead. And in 0.5 space, usually the most you will have to worry about is rats. Last, but not least, check the prices for what you are mining. Beleive it or not, sometimes you make a lot more profit mining Veldsopar the Omber.

Edited by: Tamahra on 04/02/2008 23:11:48 i wanted to say thx again to all who gave information :) i tried it out now, and belt mining is really double the income than if i would mine from mission ores, and its more fun too because you have more action with popping all the little asteroids xD
i have regained my faith in eve :x
and to add on it, i havent even maxed it all out. im 4 hours away from strip miners II and i havent even used mining drones. it will be 2 weeks before i can use mining drones II and then i have still more refining skills to train on, including the one that actively increases the refining yield. adding all this, hulk mining seems to be ok
