This post is full of wrong. The reasons you outlined have very LITTLE to do with why people blob.
Here is the #1 reason people blob, and there is NO way to combat it under the current game mechanics. Ready for the answer?

Simple as that. If gangs CAN bring more people, they almost always WILL bring more people.
There are more people playing EVE every day, and the size of the universe HAS shrunk from a few years ago because of it. But we have about 10,000 more players logged on at a given time than we did 2 years ago also, so of course its going to seem smaller and more crowded. it IS more crowded.
The only way to stop blobbing is to find ways of rewarding people for not bringing tons of friends. How the hell can you do that? in POS warfare, there is no reason not to blob. Unless CCP can find a way to make it advantagous to split your forces, no one ever will.
The blob is here to stay, and nothing anyone can do or say at this point can change it. The sooner people understand that, the better.
