Why can't we Dislike the trolls that clutter our forum posts? There's a like button, so someone might have 400 likes and you would think he's a popular and sensible poster. But if he had -300 likes you would know him for the jerk he is. |

Can we get a ban button, so every time someone posts an eve is dying thread we can ban them.
After 5 years of Eve General Discussion having at least 3 of them im just about tired of them XD |

I would be fine with a dislike button if the likes and dislikes were shown side by side
like my 81 likes and then next to it it would say -615 (81/-615)<--- like this |

Even better would be if anyone getting more than 10 dislikes in a week gets their posting privileges suspended for a week. |

You dislike the idea of a dislike button? That's such delicious irony..... ((Please note:-áAt times, my characters-ámay be a-holes, but-áI am most certainly not.-áWhat they say IC has no bearing on my OOC opinions or behaviors, and I apologize in advance if you are offended OOC by anything I might say or do-áIC.)) |

This is good idea too. But it wouldn't be 81/-615, it would be 81/615. We only know that some people are going to get a lot of likes and/or dislikes so in a few years it could end up being 8100/61500! What does that even mean?
I would take it one step further and create a simple ratio. Divide the larger number by the smaller number, round it to the nearest tenth, and replace the smaller number with 1. Example:
8100/61500 = 1:7.59... = 1:7.6 (rounded)
This means that for every like, you get 7.6 dislikes, or vise versa in the opposite case. |

Anyway, the issue with a dislike button is that it doesn't show whether or not someone's posts have value, it shows how many people on the forums disliked a posters opinion. And a large number of people on the forums are idiots. |

Ploppy McPlop wrote:Even better would be if anyone getting more than 10 dislikes in a week gets their posting privileges suspended for a week. This is the stupidest idea ive ever heard... there should never be a dislike button(if this is where you are going with it), becuase everyone would abuse it. many people support ideas, but do not click the like button. but anyone who didnt like a post would dislike it with all their alts, all their friends and all their alts....
Simi Kusoni wrote:Anyway, the issue with a dislike button is that it doesn't show whether or not someone's posts have value, it shows how many people on the forums disliked a posters opinion. And a large number of people on the forums are idiots. this is something that has bothered me for some time. I think that the amount of likes that appear for a thread should only be for the amount of likes on the Original Post of that thread. not for every like for any comment within it. which is often misleading because the likes go for people both for and against the idea. for example; at the moment this thread has 6 likes, but should only show 3 since that is all the OP got. be far more accurate.. and if i were to support a dislike button, it should only be allowed to the OP, and not to comments within it. it should help ccp get a better glance of what is supported or not. also, i believe like and/or dislike should be restricted to only one character per account. this would also help with creating a better sense of accuracy of where people stand on issues.
-we need to limit the amount of trolling that goes around, and a dislike button would only give trolls power.... |

There needs to be a block button. I see certain names and immediately ignore their posts. But it would be more efficient if I didn't even have to read their names! Never make eye contact with someone while eating a banana. |

Who needs a dislike button when you have this nifty ignore option that also conveniently cleans up threads of terribad posts by people such as the OP? EvE is not about PvP.-á EvE is about the SANDBOX! - CCP!-á Open the door!!! |

Limit character switching to something like once every 20 minutes.
We could use some economic incentives/disincentives too. If you want to reply to a topic more than once, you must agree to transfer ISK from your character to the OP and the amount would depend on how many times you've replied. Your first reply is always free, your second reply is always 1,000 ISK and it increases exponentially from there with each additional reply, which includes all comments, likes, and dislikes. Editing your replies would be free too. |

lolwut? What on earth possessed you to think that was a remotely possibly even slightly decent idea? Restricting the amount that you can post on a forum, makes it not a forum And that would give all of the posting power to whoever has the biggest pockets (either that or people would constantly start splinter threads to reduce the amount of ISK that replying to a thread was costing them) and would kill any open discussion on the forums. There's so much massively epic fail in this post that I can't even begin to wrap my head around it. |

It serves no practical purpose other than being another avenue of displaying, albeit flawed, popularity. This function is abused immensely on the "League of Legends" forum that someone compared it to, and I have no reason to believe it would provide anything meaningful here. If you don't like what someone posts, ignore it - it's actually pretty easy. If they continue to perform in a manner you disagree with, put them on your ignore list indefinitely.
However, I would say if you disagree with what someone says, a better way to deal with it is to counter it in an intelligent manner, rather than downvote them and everything they say continuously. I don't need a scale to figure out someone is an idiot, and even an idiot can produce a gem once in awhile, so why give people the impression that what this downvoted person says is any less important than what you say? Let them figure it out themselves. |

OK fair enough, in fact a perfect example of what you're advocating. I have no real experience of forums in other games so have never seen one in use before. I hereby officially revoke my idea. |

New ideas like this aren't bad in the frame of being a new idea. I think a dislike button is subject to the abuse of the troll mob, but still, different ways to express views can be considered as we have done here, and until we hear them, we can't consider them. *pastes a dislike button on Plop's screen* |
