As most of you know, the black ops have a bonus on the recalibrationtime on their cloak... Wich give them the ability to start locking right after they decloak.
Wooppidoo.
What good is it if you can start locking but it`s like having someone use 1 damp on you?
Maybe im just rambling here, but I cant see the reason for having a penalty on your lockingtime bacause you are fitting a cloak... on a ship that are designed to use a cloak.
Solutions:
> Give Black Ops a hidden bonus for fitting cloak. No penalty on scanresolution.
> Increase their scanresolution
> Introduce a new cloak. Black Op Cloaking device. Same as T2 Improved ones but give no penalty on scanresolution. And can only be fitted on Black Op ships and similar, if CCP intends to give us more sneaky ships.
It`s almost the same as adding a penalty for fitting hardeners. Fit a hardener, but you reppers will rep 45% less each cycle. So you will have to use double the repper to counter the use of a hardener....

They already have a bonus. Scan res on an Abaddon is 106.3 with max skills. Scan res on a Redeemer with max skills is 165, with a cloak it's 100. Use a 20m DG cloak and you get 107.3, higher than a regular BS without a cloak.

Doesnt seeem to bad, since amarr are one of the races with the fastest locking time.
But.
Take a widow and compare it to a scorp...
Maxed skills and a T2 cloak and the widow get a scan resolution of: 67.5mm
If you compare it to a Archon, amarr carrier, the carrier actually have better lockingtime WITHOUT a sensorbooster then a T2 BS!!
Widow T2 Cloak: 67.5mm
Panther T2 Cloak: 81mm
Sin T2 Cloak: 103.5mm
Redeemer T2 Cloak: 107.3mm
Carriers
Chimera: 56.3mm
Thanatos: 62.5mm
Archon: 68.8mm
Nidhoggur: 75mm
So basically a carrier can lock faster or as fast as some of the Black Ops, and thats without a sensorbooster....

yeah blackops are at best disappointing right now. im hoping for some kind of a buff, because they are a waste of isk.

hehe i so disagree. I love mine and relish the thought and planning that finally go into making it a success.
Its not a point and shoot ship. Its logistic battleship with some covert ability and a sideline of being able to dish it out if it has to. Not bad all rounder by my book. So i dont expect it to excell in any direction...unless you fit it to. (at the expense of its other potential areas ofc)
so if you want it to lock fast...fit sb...if you want it to jump a lot of ships...fit cargo expanders....and if you want it to dps...fit gank fitting etc etc.. all will achieve what you want. But obviously and realistically hurt it in other areas.
Expecations of what a ship can achieve need to be realistic.
