Im flying a Rupture, which I hear is capable of level 3's, however Im getting opened up like a can of Tuna. It may be my strategy; prefering to use Autocannons over Artillary, or it may be my tanking skills... or it could be something else. Im not even sure if it's advisable to fly a cruiser into level 3's although I know folks do it, and Im trying to put some descent cash together to progress.
Possible other problems are so far I've tended to head straight at enemies to reduce my time to get in gun range. I guess I could tack to them (zig zag in). I've looked at the active hardener related skills but the wording doesn't "seem" like it's a panacea of tanking. I have artillary to swap out for the autocannons. I haven't tried the arty yet as they were great in L2's until a few missions where getting swamped by frigs became an issue thus the autocannons solved it nicely.
Anyway here are my armor tanking skills and ship setup... any help would be appreciated as Im running out of ideas...

Edited by: Voidson on 05/02/2008 13:55:06 E-ghad Battlecruiser... hmnnn. I see the skill path to a Hurricane isn't that bad, however, 31 million isk... ouch... that's why I was trying to do level 3's in the first place.
Do level 3's afford enough isk to cover risking a 30 million + boat? Especially for a character that hasn't even seen 30 mil isk yet?
Maybe it's time to re-evaluate the L2 to L3 upgrade...
Maybe it's time to find a new source of income...

Edited by: Voidson on 05/02/2008 14:23:33 Edited by: Voidson on 05/02/2008 14:19:47 Yep I salvage all my L2's. Of course Im only 3 bars into salvage... Maybe that's the problem but, I haven't seen the millions of isk per mission promised by salvage in L2's at least.
Salvage is a nice boon to my isk income thou. However, given my mission payouts and bounties in L2's are worth about a half a mill +, Im starting to believe it might be better to forget the loot and salvage and just blitz missions faster. Althought I doubt I will as looking in wrecks for loot is alot of fun lol, "almost" as fun as battle.
The cost for salvage was very worth it... and easily affordable. I could even see myself quickly obtaining the 31 million however, to make 31 million from scratch for me would take a while at this rate.
Possibly my salvage "slowness" is caused by using my rifter to salvage? I turn in the mission and then I MWD to wreck groups looting and salvaging. I guess I could buy a destroyer and skill and buy tractor beams but... That's alot of investment for just salvage... imho... maybe it would be so fast it would pay itself off in the speed difference between tractoring and MWD'ing between wrecks... heh... it seems counterintuitive to me. MWD'ing between wrecks is pretty fast and my cap is rock steady, so I've really steered away from tractor beams and destroyers as I feel they are not very flexible in use...(pretty much only for salvage)

Originally by: Durzel Are you selling the loot you get from wrecks at whatever the market price is, or are you spending any time analysing what the sell price is and creating a sell order based on that?
I check the "sell" prices on all loot I harvest. If there's a buyer that is within 10% of median "sell" price I sell to them. If there's no buyers at the station to sell to that are "reasonable" I sell the loot myself at the station. I hold anything selling for 100k or more to ship to Jita or another trade hub in an attempt to get better prices. I sell all my salvage at large trade hubs when I've filled up my trade can's with salvage and higher value loot.
At times I do reprocess low value loot when I need to make ammo, as I like making my own ammo.

Originally by: Zev'Nar I bought my Hurricane & Cyclone with Salvaging money. Mostly those Tritanium Bars, that seem to drop more on level1 missions than level2 ones for me.
LOL!
I started salvaging when I reached level 2 missions... maybe I should head back into L1's and get some Trit bars! God knows Trit rarely drops in L2s fo me.
I only see 1 or 2 Trit bars every 5 to 16 missions.
Ok so what I've gathered is that L3's = Hurricane for me... Before that I need to figure out why Salvaging isn't netting me better rewards.
Thanks for all the help
