Well I know how its done but I have never done it(ninja mining that is). Anyway I was wondering how much money you can make an hour ninja mining with a cruiser and bestower in a 0.0 system. Do all 0.0's have Ark? Also tips on how to ninja mine more efficiently would be appreciated.
Thank you.

Edited by: Lyden on 29/03/2004 04:31:42 This phrase always makes me laugh.
I used to play a different MMORPG, where ninja mining was taking loot that drop from mobs you didn't kill.
So I would have expected ninja minning to mean: Taking ore from cans that aren't yours.
It tooks weeks before I knew otherwise. I thought there was a huge movement of people making a living by searching belts for cans to "ninja mine" from.

Edited by: Darkwolf on 29/03/2004 03:53:56 There is. They're called "ore thieves", or more often "hey you!".
EDIT: I love it how games like Diablo actually GIVE you spells that encourage you to ninja loot. Telekinesis is the ninja-looter's DREAM :)

I ninja mined bistot in a Thorax (best cruiser miner) to get my Apoc (best miner full stop)...
OK so it was before Castor hit but since then I've made more money than ever... in fact I now have 6 battleships (set up for different roles) and will get around to number 7 when I finish doing all these damn research missions for the Tech II stuff.
Ninja Mining is the best way to make cash! PERIOD! -------------------------------------------

Only problem is, most ores worth ninja mining are in alliance space. That makes us smaller corps sad :(

After castor Ninja mining will naturally be more dangerous as the NPC have become tougher hwever I canon see any good reason why it should not be possible.
I have in a separate post on the same subject made a short guide as to what you need to effectively ninja mine, from individual safespots for the cargodump and logoff point to aligning your ship when mining to minimize warpout times.
As for alliance space.
Most of the alliances and all of the large ones have bitten off far more than they can chew. Pre castor I happily mined and NPC farmed out in alliance space and felt alot safer there than I have ever done in empire space.
Remember that it takes time to travel, if the alliance sees your blip on the map 10odd jumps away thay most probably will ignore you. If they are boored they may go investigate but as soon as they enter the system you will know they are there thanx to local.
Be nice to them and be at one of your safespots and they will soon go away, most alliances consider minin a far greater offence than NPC hunting thus that is naturally what you are doing :)
As for what ship and mining eq to use.
Priority 1 is actually cargospace, I have found a stabber with cargo expanders a great ship for this, sure a thorax is a better miner but as the big time waster is going back and forth to your cargodump to drop your ore load off the possibility to carry a larger amount in your cargo outweighs speed of actual mining.

I agree. A stabber is a great ship for this. Another good ship would be the Omen. The Omen will give you a couple more low slots and more room for drones. If you are mining in 0.0 those extra low slots are great to have for warp core stabilizers or more cargo expanders.
Now that the belts are so huge, I hear more and more people calling it 'Pinball' mining instead of 'Ninja' mining. You tend to just bounce around from one side of the belt to another until your cargo hold is full then jump to your indy or anchored secure can to unload.

Ninja mining, has been nerfed after 15 seconds the npc warp to a rock closest to you. So then you warp to the other side. Then after 15 seconds or so they warp to you.
So, I cannot ninja anymore. :(
And to me that was exciting. Again, CCP has taken my fun away.
Becoming Captain Whinner No fun is no fun.

I have done plenty of ninja mining. But really if it's not on Gneiss or higher then forget it - it becomes a financial liability in the risk vs profit scale.
