I'm in Sansha 0.0 recently. I cant decide ratting ship.
I have Amarr/Gallente battle ship IV. I have good drone skills.Of course,I have Heavy T2 Drones skills. My turret and laser skill is not bad.But I don have T2. Good armor skill. and NO shield.
Perhaps,Dommy or Amarr battle ships are only option I have. (I can fly Amarr HAC in few days though)
And,I will do salvage. I want put 1 salvager at least.(perhaps tractor will be needed)
I can caluculate DPS. But I dont know enemy resist & size how affect to damage.
Please advice me.(with setup would be very very nice) Excellent Goods at Low Prices. |

Edited by: Agent2 Holtze on 06/02/2008 17:19:22 well, both is fine, but if you can use a HAC that would be the best!!!
And you should also consider if hostiles enters space, you need to get on a SS fast or to a station, so you could end up loosing alot of drones with the domi.
But any of the two is fine tbh.
And if you take a domi make sure you fit a couple of heavy neuts so a single nano HAC won't kill you.

Both Gallente and Amarr are armor tanks, so you're set there. Sansha use EM/Thermal, both of which have high natural resists on Armor. (Though 10% less EM, next patch.)
Against Sansha, you want to use EM/Thermal damage. This means either A) Lasers, or B) EM/Thermal Drones. If A, use an Abaddon. If B, a Dominix.
I'd go with an Amarr battleship, or possibly a Zealot post-patch (it gets a 5th turret.) |

I'm curious what you have been doing in game to ask such basic questions.
For Sansha's Amarr is better then Gallente and the Geddon and Abaddon are both good for this purpose. I expect you know the difference between the two ships. . .but here is the lowdown.
Abaddon - better tank Geddon - better gank over time
Beam > Pulse due to the range. But if you are finding yourself engadging targets under 15km then switch to pulse. -----------

This mean geddon is better for ratting, right?
How do I put drones on geddon? 5 Ogre II? 4 Ogre II with 5 Hammer Head II?
This is my plan. High:6 Mega Modulated Pluse , 1 Tracotor and 1 Salvager
Med:2 Cap Recharger II, 1 best named Afterburner
Low:1 Large Repair II , 1 EM hardner II , 2 TH hardner ,1 Heatsink II ,3 Cap relay II
NO RIG Excellent Goods at Low Prices. |

I think the sweetest irony would be to rat Sanshas in a Nightmare. Effective against Sanshas due to use of laserz, plenty of utility slots for tractors and salvagers. ------------------------------------------ All nerfs are meant to hurt you personally. I would never do 0.0 ratting in a battleship...
HAC's do better, they are alot less clumsy, you'll be faster out f the belt when hostiles enters system, you can go with gank setups as you can tank sansha's on a single medium rep aslong as you just orbit close and kill small stuff first...
But if it have to be a Battleship, i would go with a dominix, make sure you fit heavy neutralizers to make sure those nasty nanohacs can't solo you... and then you'll also have room for tractor beams and salvagers as TII ogre's kill Sansha fast.

With the proposed changes to the Zealot, that underused HAC may just be the ultimate EM ratter come patch day.
Drones alone won't work very well against Sansha as a lot of them stay at 25km+ range (coincidently optimal+falloff of Mega Pulse's :) )
With that said, Armageddon does very well, just remember to stay aligned and always keep a set of Warrior II's to scare of the tackler that runs ahead of the gank nano squads.

sansha resists here.
to echo holtze, dont use a battleship if you can use a hac, more agility combined with lower sig means less effective damage taken--either ishtar or sacri are ideal, you may be able to get away with a deimos too but ammo may be problematic ___ Eve Players are not very smart. This is why when i'm ratting in a ishtar i alwayz orbit at 500 as soon as the sansha explode, withdraw drones and MWD towards your next target... If you are ratting in a ship with guns, the time it will take you o change crystals will almost be the same amount of time you will need before you can deploy your drones and pwn again!

From my own experience, you shouldn't bring a BS to rat in 0.0. And for Sanshas, the best bang for the for the buck would be going in there with an Assault Frigate, namely the Retribution. Tanks extremely well against Sanshas, have tons of armor (for being a frigate), dishes out a good amount of damage and their Battleships/Cruisers wont be able to hit you at all as long as you orbit them, so they are pretty much doomed. AND, it gives you a bigger chance to warp away if hostiles or pirates are entering the area. So check the ship setups part of the forums and go earn yourself some good money!

ok,I'll go HAC as soon as possible. But I can only use T1 turrets. T1 with HAC is badder than geddon, right? I'll train T2 turrets.
I have Assalut Ship skill. But AS isnt good for ratting cuz they are low DPS,right? Excellent Goods at Low Prices. |

Assault frigs are awsome for ratting in 0.0, though the dps is a bit low. Using the ishkur w/ t2 lighs (hobgoblin 2's) you can easily plow through your enemies, though battleships can sometimes take a little while. Just be careful of the 3 destroyer 3 cruiser spawns... AF's hate dessies.
I ratted in sansha space (providence) with an enyo with t2 light blasters and it was fairly easy. You just need to orbit nice and close to a bs, and kill all the frigs first. Of course... then one day i got distracted, came across a 3 destroyer 3 cruiser spawn, and didn't kill the destroyers first...

Thats what my Sanshas ratting domi setup is. Tanks a triple BS spawn with my skills nps. I think I do have some hardwirings but i cant remember tbh. I get according to EFT 857 DPS. I use the rails to start dpsing and once i have all aggro launch the drones and let them go nuts...
99% of the above is said in RP. The Other 1% is personal, and should be taken that way. :P

Edited by: Dahin on 07/02/2008 18:15:09 Edited by: Dahin on 07/02/2008 18:14:35 npcing in a dominix in hostile territory is a bad idea, because:
a) you will need to ressuply more than often since every now and then you will loose drones. That includes jumping from gates and docking where hostiles might be. b) Every time a hostile enters the system you either have to loose all your deployed drones or risk getting ganked.
That being said, an amarr bs is your best choice, or a classic farmer-fit cloaking raven (god I can't believe I'm suggesting cloaking ravens)

Since its not hostile space and considering you have decent skills to a BS you may not be wrong with the geddon. Against the belt rats you will have no problems to tank and this heavy laser will be very 'handy' dealing with sansha BS.
Maybe you are exagerating a bit the problem with rating in 0.0. I use a raven to rat sansha and usually I dont even touch my shield booster.
