i thought i had read somewhere that if you use DCM lasers on pyro you can get morphite out of it. but i carnt seem to find the topic about it any where. any one know if it's true?

The confusion probably came from the Pyroxeres description, which says "deep core refining yields a little bit of nocxium". Now, I've no idea what "deep core refining" is, but it's probably where the deep core mining rumour originated.

This will be a silly question, but since I specialize in blowing **** up and not mining, I don't feel bad asking it. What exactaly are deep core miners used for anyway? |

Mining Mercoxite, an extremely rare ore found only deep in 0.0 that yields Morphite, a mineral used for T2 manufacturing.

Ok, I thought they had uses on some of the other ores, but I guess that's just cause of the above rumor. |

You can actually mine normal ore with it but it yeilds jsut as much as a miner 1, takes 150 cpu, and I think 240 cap per cycle, so its pointless.
Its even pointless to mine mercoxit =(

Why is DCM pointless?
1. High amount of required skills. (Mining needs high lvl skills and more should be added, just not pointless ones plz.)
2. Only 1 ore type that requires DCM
3. You can get morphite from Ark and spud. So you don't need DCM to get morphite.
4. Works like an ordinary miner I mining laser.

yep sucks dont it. i spent over a month to get the 5/5 skills needed only to find dcm is useless. great job ccp ( i wonder why noone has asked this in CSM )

Deepcore mining is not pointless. A Skiff(im not sure i spelled it right) can outmine a hulk if you have the right skills mining mercoxite that is. And can make it easy and cheap to mine in 0.0 and cheap works with me knowing how bad it can get in there :)  |
