Very recently, Taggart left Te-Ka alliance after a very large tax was place by Ka-tet upon Te-Ka without any warning, consideration or discussion.
(FYI, Te-Ka is sister alliance of Ka-tet. Te-Ka was meant as a renter alliance under Ka-tet wing.)
Here's official statement from TTi:
Quote: 2008.02.06 05:12 On behalf of TTi, I announce that we do not wish to be handled like slaves whose existence Ka-tet holds in their blind hands.
We do not accept to function under the rule of those who can tax their members without considering their opinion. Slaves are at least told in advance what they will be. We weren't even told that before the raping tax was placed on us.
TTi has stood up against it a few days ago, and now we will leave even if Ka-tet removes all taxes and all restrictions. The only acceptable solution to Ka-tet's behavior is resignation of Ka-tet's leadership and a public apology to Te-Ka.
We have dignity. We exists for ourselves. We will not come up with solutions to keep ourselves in slavery.
Bye-bye, Te-Ka and Ka-tet.
We came. We made money. We are proud of it. We'll keep it.
Regards, CEO of Taggart Transdimensional

We had recently been recruited by Te-Ka and were in the process of joining when we were informed of the new tax rates. We would have been asked to pay over 2 billion a month to be members. Seems too pricey to me so I totally understand your decision. We also commend your commitment to individual rights and the concept that rewards belong to those that earned them!
Long live John Galt!

Te-Ka enjoyed a free pass in ka-tet space for a long time, rental fees have been discussed for a long time as at the end of the day, with difficulty tracking pos and the fact that with pos u no longer require to rent offices, isk is quite hard to get a hold of out there.
cant comment on the rates as i have no idea what they are but i'd agree its time to introduce rents possibly setting office rates high to compensate and paying rent thru those and ofc making it a compulsory purchase ---------------------------------------------

According to the anchient tomes of taxation principles stored in our vaults, there is an old saying that seems to fit your predicament. "no taxation, without representation."
As far as our researchers have been able to learn, the phrase was initially adopted as a warcry in the struggle between those living in colonies, and those who originally established them.

I salute Taggart Transdimensional for standing up against the evil landlord. Excessive rents are the hallmark of Bob, with the result evident in the demise of all the Alliances that rented from Bob.

Good for you. Take what you want. Why should you pay to live in space, which is limitless and should be free?

Rubbing his chin in thought as he examines the press release, he lets out a long low sigh. 'Ka-Tet needs to shore up their foundations, not lose valuable members. Their disasterous war on DMC should have made clear to them their weaknesses, but instead they seem to be hell-bent on slicing their own throats and laying bare their space to anyone who has the gumption to take it.'
Deftly his fingers dance across the console bringing the holographic image into focus on the drone regions as he continues the one-sided conversation, 'It's only a matter of time I fear before someone in the region decides that they are more of a liability than an asset. And with the war against BoB reaching critical mass, now might be the very time to strike.'
Rotating the display, he shifts his focus back to the matter at hand as the QY6 system is drawn into focus and the adjacent areas, 'Where will I be fighting tomorrow I wonder?'

We have 2 chicks in the corp, anyways, I think they are, coz they never speak on TS.
I will get you pictures of them playing Eve in the nude for 2 billion a month.
If it turns out they are guys, we will reduce that to 1 billion
I am a fair and just god.

Can't blame Ka-Tet.. They got alot of renters, they killed alot of rats, refined alot of loot. Ka-Tet made alot of minerals and alot of isk. Are now bigger and makes more isk, and don't care about the renters. Hence they' try and milk them for more isk just because they can.

Oh lord.. ok before the facts get completly screwed up, lets point out a few things.
1 Te-ka members have a large chunk of benefits that until recently, have been 100% FREE.
2 Yes, the new rental agreements were put out, but after a valid argument about wanting a say, they offered 3 payment plans and told the corps in te-ka to vote on what they wanted.
only 6 corps decided to vote, and they all picked the most expensive route.
So there is no thing as "taxation without representation" Hell I was one of the ka-tet members arguing the point on defence of te-ka.
3. For fact on how much the rent is. 20 million per member a MONTH! so for you mr 30 member for 5 billion a week, stop trying to cause hate and discontent with mistruth, that 30 man corp would pay a rent of 600 mill a month
Now, there was discussion on what would be a fair price, and due to limits on what can be tracked without anyone falsifying the information, a per member cost was implemented. You Corp is free to pass that fee onto your members, in form of tax rate which you have control of, or collect 20 mill from them.
Frankly, im dissapointed at your "woahs me" statement, concidering you never even VOTED when oppertunity arrose, not even a "none of the above"
I even gave you an oppetunity to voice your opinion on what the rent should be, and all that came out was "we should be here for free"
Wish ya luck on your ventures, but get you facts staight --------------- Captain Ferros Command Fleet Admiral Admin Fleet Cmdr Expeditionary Fleet 1 Ka-tet

The word on all Ka-tet is that TTi were scroungers, and their sole purpose in 0.0 was to inflate the market and have huge profits for them, without caring for anyone.
There is also a confirmed story of a TTi member emailing a Ka-Tet member who was in a hospital bed, trying for him to subdue an alliance leader to intervene in their favour. LOW BLOW.... not even a "get better"... lame, lame.

you wanna live in 0.0? sure thing. fight for your own space, or make yourself useful to a space-holding alliance, and you're all good. not that hard/demanding of a process
and good luck looking for a new alliance to freeload off of after this thread

This was a principled response from TTI, basically saying that we are not slaves. Some have respected this, and some others have not. Dealing with alliances of varying qualities for years, TTI now has its own alliance -- and I can inform whomever that it concerns that quite a few former and current members of Te-Ka have applied to our alliance. For an alliance based on the principles of Capitalism and Selfishness, it is very uplifting.

hmm... an alliance composed entirely of "self-interested industrialists." ask FREGE, KOS, DMC, and ISS how that worked out for them

Ka-tet did not defeat DMC period. RA, xxdeathxx, and the other did w/ ease. Ka-tet just paid the others to do it and RA didn't want DMC to sell supercaps to NON-RA approved people.
