It is reprehensible to renege on a wager. Shame on you! Regardless how uncouth is the bet winner, whether it be gloating or whining he still has more moral value than a person who reneges.

pilk, it's not that much money mate. if you'd spent the time you spend writing all these threads ratting, you'd have your 500mil.
far better to have the good grace let it go, than forever be remembered as the guy who spent years trying to get some guy to pay him 500mil of monopoly money.

Really now. Why do I poke fun at him? Why is everyone else doing the same thing? It has nothing to do with the fact that, in all actuality, he right in requesting his payment. it is the fact that this happened, in EVE terms, a very very long time ago. It has not been brought up in a very long time, and I am certain that only Pilk has been thinking about it.
It is his need for attention that makes him use an event for the past that very, very few people are concerned about. This is my he has made himself EVE's greatest dumbass.
If I had posted every five minutes since the bet was first shirked, you'd say I was obsessed and looked pathetic and needy.
When I post four months after the completion of the bet and two weeks after the event (IAC finally retaking FAT-) that finally stopped the countdown on how long BoB had held the station in fulfillment of my bet, apparently that looks pathetic to you, too.
For any time, t, that I wait, there are some people who will think I should have waited 0.5t, and some who think 2t would be more appropriate. I cannot please you all.
That said, the real reason I waited so long? I was hoping that, without the spotlight of community attention on him, Tyrrax might be willing to settle the bet like a gentleman.
Oh, and one last note. When I originally posted the thread declaring victory, in a show of goodwill, I sent an EVEMail to Tyrrax offering to pull the thread and do the whole thing low-key. I felt the thread was in good fun (I mean, c'mon, I still chortle a little every time I see my sig) and was enjoying it, but I was willing to entertain the possibility that he did not feel the same. If he had wanted me to keep it quiet, he had that option. Instead, he goes and acts, to use a slightly-less-than-eloquent term, "all butt-hurt" over the presence of the thread, which thread he could have had deleted with a single word to me.
Tyrrax's position here is completely untenable. My writing of this thread at this juncture could have happened two months ago or two months from now, and I'd be getting the same "OMG QUIT BEGGING" and "OMG IT WAS MONTHS AGO, WTF?" replies. I'm not seeing my failing here insofar as this thread is concerned, but I'm definitely seeing Tyrrax's.

you lose a bet, you pay your debt.
everything else just wont work.
and one thing, that shouldnt be accepted for sure is "im not paying because the other guy gloated about winning"

as for rubbing it in, might be smart to do that after you get paid and not before when you're completely powerless to enforce collection.
I'm more ruled by whims than e-honour, as people who know of me may recall I don't hesitate to rig tournament matches for gambling purposes or fly priceless ships in a suicidal manner.
It was a completely insignificant amount of ISK to me but the caod thread he created and his general attitude killed my natural inclination of showing him the respect of honoring our agreement.

Oh and normally I do pay up when I lose bets, but I don't see a need to be obsessive about it. If someone gives me a good reason to be a **** to them then it'll take more than E-HONOUR for me to overlook it.

Nah, they stopped issuing those three months ago, right around the time when they brought on all the Goon janitorial staff so they could manufacture the BoB/Goon employee quantity quote.
On a more-serious note, "at the request of the OP" is, has been for as long as I've played, and likely always will be, a sufficient reason for a mod to close a thread. Indeed, this is not just idle speculation; I've closed a couple threads I've started in this manner in the past.
