I saw a Jump Freighter for sale, and the ad implied that you could jump out of Jita directly to lowsec. I didn't think this was possible.
So....What are the jump limitations of a Jump Freighter?
1. Can Jump Freighters use their jump capability in high sec? (i.e. jump from high sec to high sec regions)?
2. Can a Jump Freighter jump from high sec into low sec (cyno in lowsec system)?
3. Are Jump Freighters similar to carriers and dreads in that their jump capability only works in low sec (i.e. both the freighter and the cyno must be in low sec)?
Thanks for the clarification....

1. no - gutting TBH but no cynos in high sec cause CCCP fail at coding so probabluy cant difrenciate between ship classes jumping into a cyno
2. afaik yup - this is what makes them so good
3. jump capabilty is restricted to skills and not system security so whatever range your skills give you should be available regardless of system sec.

I could be mistaken but I believe there are "RP" reasons for not allowing cyno fields in high-sec. Mostly due to destabilizing local stars and/or planets and/or man-made objects I believe.
Asside from that, jump freighters cannot jump high-sec to high-sec or low-sec to high-sec due to the inability to create cynosural fields in high-sec space.
They can jump from any system to any system in which you can create a cynosural field, low-sec and 0.0, however and then use jump gates to get back to high-sec so long as it is within their (5ly base to 11.25ly max, I believe, depending on skill) jump range. Example: Load up your jump freighter with goods in high-sec, jump 9.8ly out to your POS or an NPC station in 0.0, unload except for fuel, jump 4.2ly to a .4 system right next to the gate or a POS, then jump out of the system into high-sec.
I'm sure if I posted any incorrect information I'll be duly corrected but based on my understanding of the involved game mechanics that ought to be accurate or reasonably close to it. ____________________

1. no
2. yes, thats the most uber part IMO... you can skip the low sec entry and 0.0 entry camps :)
3. cyno is the only thing limiting capital ships and jump freighters moving around. CCP has set the limit on the cyno generator to low sec or 0.0. the ships actually can be in high sec (if they where build before the fix (like some carriers and dreads are) or a GM moved you there (thats never going to happen)).

So to condense the info here:
1. Jump freighters CAN jump form high-sec -> low-sec but not vica versa. 2. They can use regular star gates

Any capital ship can jump from High Sec. The problem is they can't usually get to high sec to perform this trick. Chribba told me once (in the forums - I don't actually know him) that he's not jumping his dread out of high-sec, despite being able to, because he can never go back.
The jump freighter is different though. It can use the regular gates, just like a regular freighter. So to get to Jita, the JF jumps to a nearby low-sec system and goes through the stargates up to Jita. The difference is leaving Jita, you can leave the station and have a cyno up in a low sec system, then jump right to it.
Cost for a JF - at least 5bil for the hull. There's a bit more to be invested in skills though.
Cheers Falka
