Hey, was wondering if we could get a sub-domain, or even just a folder within the eve-online domain. Just regular old html, nothing fancy, maybe some CSS styling as the IGB can use css finally  .

IGB has alot of problems with viewing the chronicle .asp pages :\
Also, there should be, imho, a link on the "http://myeve.eve-online.com/mb/news.asp", EvE Chronicles, or something similar.
Hell, get your IT guys to give me FTP access to that folder (and only that one, for security reasons), and I'll do it myself / update it 
Shouldn't be hard at all, same naming convention, just tabular styling without all of the eve-online website menu stuff on the sides.

This would be fantastic to see.
Pros:
- Can be linked from IGB Homepage to reach a whole new audience (perhaps add a button in the menu that says "Backstory" that takes you to the "Backstory Homepage"
- Stories can be linked from/in mission briefings that have some relevance to them
- Stories can be linked from/in news articles that have some relevance to them
- Stories can be linked from/in relevant region descriptions too, perhaps (Imagine a "Delve" description and below the lullabies is the Blood Raider chronicle)
- ?
Cons:
- Besides the effort required to build and maintain this, I can't see any...
- ?

If you do a quick ninja edit to Abraxas i'm sure he won't see it!
His name is correctly speeled (pun intended) in the topic head ffs

Some really good points here. I'll take it to the guys and discuss it. The IGB is a bit of an ugly beast, but a redesign of the front page is really in order and has been chucked about by us fiction/news monkeys for a while now as a method to make people aware of the in game news that happens ever more frequently now.

Seriously, though ... Yes, I fully agree, and I want this to happen. A while back I filed a request to have the chronicle pages made IGB-compatible and easily accessible, and we recently got some traction on it. It won't happen right away, but it will definitely happen.
Linking stories to descriptions and missions actually came up in a recent meeting (I basically asked for it), and while it's a bit more difficult, I can foresee it being done at some point. This is a SOON(tm) thing, though.
I also want the chronicle page completely redesigned. I've got support for the idea and am developing the concept, but it's a big project and thus should also be considered on SOON(tm) status.
There's a lot of changes that could be made to the way chronicles are represented. I'm trying to spearhead some of them, but I've got these EVE chronicles to write, and some scientific articles, and then the EVE storytelling game (the EVE RPG) that I'll be writing the fiction for, and a couple of secret projects, and the day just somehow ALWAYS ENDS TOO SOON.

Out of curiosity, why don't you just bundle a real HTML rendering engine with the game? Webkit and Gecko are open source, and absolutely everybody would love to be able to open a browser window for reference data, forums, checking email, etc. It seems like it would also be a lot easier than writing your own.
