My predictions for nr 1 and 2 in each bracket;
A; 1. Star Fraction 2. When Fat Kids Attack
B; 1. Green Alliance 2. Synchr0nicity
C; 1. PL 2. MC
D;
1. IAC 2. Cosa Nostra.
E; 1. TRI 2. The Church.
F; hard to call, 4 good teams in this one 1. The Five 2. Atlas Alliance
G; (could be opposite) 1. The Red Skull 2. Nebula Rasa
H; (could be opposite) 1. Morsus Mihi 2. KIA
So then first elimination rounds would be; SF vs synchronicity, sf win fatty vs green alliance, green alliance win MC vs IAC, IAC win PL vs Cosa Nostra. PL win TRI vs Atlas, Atlas win The Five vs The Church, Five win Red skull vs KIA, Red skull win Nebula Rasa vs Morsus Mihi, Nebula Rasa win
and then i'm not too clear on who'd fight who next

My research indicates that they are the Cult of War team that I lost to two tourneys ago ;O (impoc go boom, they were the atlas alliance team in the last tourney) 38 member alliance, so flexibility might be an issue, altho they can probably poach members from elsewhere easily enough. I expect they'll fly ishtars and navy vexors

I think that's pretty much what's going to happen. In group B, SMASH could pull though, they have had experience in the tourney but question is if they can adapt to the new style/rules. MC I'm a bit hesitant about, I know they can serve a dish of capitals, but in the previous tourneys they been far from the strongest contenders, can they bring the hurt in an smaller scale arena fight? Group H, I think is really hard to call, but Morsus Mihi has shown that they can deliver the last few tourneys so it's surely one of the bigger names in that group!
My favorite team in this tournament is gonna be IAC, now BoB isn't on the roster. The last tourneys BoB really was worth watching and has been part of some clever, nail-biting and shocking "Nobody expects the Thorax!" fights. But next to that, I've really loved the IAC fights. I need not say more than Impoc, that was just nail-biting to watch! But the fight in the earlier tournament where they lost against BoB, who's logistic ship disconnected (in the semi?), that was excitement in the words true meaning. Not to mention, I got a tingling sensation in my body last tournament, when I saw the Arbitrator's ready to rock and roll.
Star Fraction, although not true winners, have always seemed to come up and face off against some tough opponents (ASCN-iWIN-Nos-Hyperion-Setup + TWDs-Unbeatable-Setup) and pulling out some good tactics. I'll keep a close eye on those guys!
And I'm sure, very sure, that even though a lot of the alliance names could as well read "??? ?????" to me, there's gonna be room for good surprises and lot's of entertainment. Ready your weapons lads, it's time to pewpew!
Who will win it? Hehe, impossible to tell of course, but I would love seeing either Morsus Mihi or IAC taking the title. But let's see!
Enjoy, and fly safe..

Show us this video! I figured you guys used ping pong balls and alcohol personally. Dual uses for optimum efficiency.
Anyways, groupings are always interesting as it gets things going in anticipation of the real thing. I won't bother with a prediction since who cares what someone else thinks. And everyone involved of course always picks their team to go all the way. We have experts for that. Good luck experts (special regards for Steihl Asior, Verone, and Angel,) I hope you did your homework, and have fun during the event. Hell most of them are involved too, but try to stay at least a little neutral.
Tournaments evolve every year as the game balance and the tourney parameters fluctuate. There always be the cadre of complainers. This is an internet game of course, so it goes with the territory. But people will cheer and cry at the broadcast, pausing fleet battles to see what happens on EveTV during some matches. A vocal minority love to complain about no big names. Whaaaa. People may be missing, but everyone loves an underdog. It is a pity though the demand for participation exceeds the capacity. Nonetheless, the field is still competitive. What people consider an underdog is up to interpretation. What others consider important participants that supposedly everyone cares about to make the tourney relevant is also open to interpretation.
You might hear veterans say skill points are overrated. And they are often enough to a degree. So is the concept of ISK. A team of tech one cruisers can have success against the well funded teams out there as well. I can't wait to see what comes of this tournament.
I suppose a lot of people didn't have an idea who The Star Fraction was before ten Thoraxes. No more sneaking up on teams. I sure as hell didn't know who HUN Reloaded were before the tourney.* The cluster is far and wide, and you can't know every group or every pilot out there on a single server. The teams that advanced had more of a smaller alliance flavor as the fights went deeper in. And that puts a smile on the face of a smaller alliance member like me as I suppose it does for many others. The regular group stages had some interesting matches. Personally I loved watching the other RP groups like the CAIN and Aegis Militia (booo hiss enemies, but heh gotta root for the RPers regardless) guys give some other people plenty to handle.
So for those who people don't pick to advance, I will watch you (who cares right?) as many will. There is ALWAYS a chance to beat the favorite, the unbeatable. And if you are lucky enough, you can make a bit of eve history and have a smile on your face that will last a long time. You don't even need to win it to enjoy it. So really prizes are inconsequential; especially if you are a group like The Star Fraction, where the tourney prizes really just don't fit us. Everyone has a chance. How many people didn't pick BoB to win it last year? No more steamroll. And no more pirate implants! It would have been fun to pod the juicers if it was in the rules. Ah well.
Fun times ahead.
Glory awaits.
* Ever notice that HUN Reloaded has a Thorax in their logo?
