Edited by: 1Of9 on 11/02/2008 11:05:16 Well in SiSi at current build, Warp To Zero is over.
Closest distance is now 5km.
Even on overview you can set from 5000 meters to 100,000 meters.
Seems piwates are gonna have a party
Edit: Im wondering if we gonna see a new explosion in bookmarks all over again

Warp to Zero was the biggest crap this game ever invented.

Edited by: Ursula LeGuinn on 11/02/2008 11:16:38 I don't really like this idea, mainly because travel already takes long enough as it is.
Traveling 18 jumps in an Interceptor with WTZ is about as entertaining as watching paint dry. Traveling 18 jumps in a bBattleship with WT5KM... well, pretty much your social security would expire before you got to your destination.
It's nice for pirates when people hang around gates a bit longer (and I'm joining a pirate alliance, so that is relevant to my interests), but we really don't need any more unentertaining time sinks. ________________

No, instas are the worst invention, and now they're coming back.

Aparently, when you right click over a celestial object (like a gate) your closest warp option is 5km. But if you go to the submenu WARP WITHIN DISTANCE you still have the 0 (zero) distance as a choice. Just not the default anymore. Furthermore, in the overview closest distance is 5km you can set, not zero.

I hope this is just a bug. I'm all for an EVE universe that feels bigger, but ... gah, I remember buying shuttles full of instas...

Chances are that they will just not allow instas to be made (no bookmarks within XX Km of gates).

Edited by: Ursula LeGuinn on 11/02/2008 11:28:14 Well really, what did they expect people to do?
If you're in a hauler or transport, a non-nano'd battlecruiser or battleship, an ORE barge, or most especially a freighter, it can take a long time to reach that gate if 15km is the minimum distance. We're talking minutes. That can add an extra hour to a medium-sized trip, and give pirates plenty of time to just pick folks apart at their leisure.
Maybe 5km will work, I dunno.
EDIT: Ahhh, so it was a false alarm... whew. Sorry, old-school folks. ________________

I was speaking to a dev on sisi last night and indeed Warp to Zero is planned for removal in an upcoming patch. He confirmed this also included warping to gates. ______________________ I am the worst poaster |

Yeah screen shot or no dice. If they do get rid of WTZ I am SO grabbing my Slasher and making Instas ALL over the place. I do not care one way or another about Pirates, I just do not need Nano-Fit my BS just so I can take it out to where I want to get it some time this WEEK. Travel has always eaten up more of my time in this game than I feel is needed. +++++++++++++++ For the LAST time... Keep your UGLY Typhoon off my SEXY Hurricane! |

I wouldn't mind getting rid of WTZ. Travel through "dangerous" territory has become boring. I miss the good ol' days where low sec was actually dangerous.

You see that it says "between 0 and 100,000" right. The 5,000 on top is the already set default for your settings. You can still type 0 and get WTZ.

If this is true, which I highly doubt, it's one of CCP's stupidest moves ever.
"Hey, let's remove the ginormous lag-inducer that are BMs."
"OK, but let's re-introduce it later so we can **** people up!"
Really, if they're going to do this, there better be a dev blog. Otherwise it's just asinine. The devs know what it will do to the DB, so why even bother.
Anyone with a brain will know how to make BMs, so at best this keeps the slag away for a few weeks. Then Contracts overlow with BM sellers. This can't be their plan.
