Edited by: Zeba on 12/02/2008 07:08:38 Just logged in no probs with the server population at about 18000 which is normal for this time of the day. Also looking at the population stats eve has actually been rising in numbers logged in over the last month or so. Now noone is trying to say that certain individuals are not having connection issues but its kinda unfair to blame the whole thing 100% on CCP when there are several reasons not related to them for the problems. Tiscali for one with other networks singling out eve for packet shaping to improve thier own network speed at the cost of others plus lord knows what other things that havent been figured out yet. I'm willing to bet that the majority of people who are posting with these issues haven't even did a tracert yet let alone the most basic connection diagnostics like reseting routers and modems. I myself had some major connection issues back when Trinity was first rolled out but a router reset fixed it up and have not had a single issue since. Oh i did have one other instance recently but that was due to my ******** friend queing up a couple of hundred gigs of torrents and minimizing it on the living romm pc I never use. That one had me pulling out what little hair I have left until I figured it out a couple of days later.

I'm probably just doing something wrong every night (peak playing times) which is causing me to land in a queue, but I somehow get it right every morning (off-peak playing times) when I log in to switch skill trainings.
Good call.
My bad.
If you can connect fine off peak then your most likely a victim of packet shaping during the peak times your trying to get on. Peak times for the majority of online game are the same as every other activity on the web.

No. This a real issue with some people. The logon servers proxies are not being forwarded properly by some isps and messes up some peoples ability to log on. The problem is that they think its all CCPs fault.

Edited by: Zeba on 12/02/2008 07:32:23 So you just said your trying to log on to eve during peak internet hours for eveyone that just happens to be peak hours for eve. Also the peak internet traffic goes on far past 6pm mate after eveerone gets home from works and start browsing. Check you own shaped replies as the Point Stands. Plus way to ignore everything else that was posted.

Not that I know anything about CCP's network setup, BUT the idea of login proxies hosted outside CCP's own network feels a bit odd.
After all, the proxy distributes the load but the traffic is still forwarded within their own network afaik. To my knowledge there are no global-wide proxies hosted at various ISPs. They are all located in the cluster in UK.
So, I have no idea what you mean by that they are not being forwarded properly by some ISPs, guessing you're talking filtering/traffic shaping here - and that has nothing to do with the login proxies as they would be treated the same way no matter if it's a proxy or direct hit on TQ - seeing as you cannot see what's behind the proxy anyway.
I probably got the terms wrong. Just going on what a dev posted in anouther login queue thread. Something about resetting your router/modem so it could get whatever info it needs from the login server so you can login. It was something they were looking into.
