**edit** Got back in, apparently just the US players poofed

two nod drops in 1/2 hour. I think they need some more server hardware.

I've lost my second ship and cargo in less than a week because of this now.
Tonight I got dropped *just* as I jumped to 0.0. Logged back in a few minutes later in a fresh clone - ship, gear, cargo - gone.
I'm starting to have trouble having any fun playing this game.

Is anyone else losing connection all the time or is it my (usually very reliable) ISP having difficulties to route to EVE? -- Stories: #1 --

this is getting really bad... I got dropped 6 times in the past 5 hours... so far it has not been in a battle against pirates or pvp.... I am from the midwest in the US... To those running eve please get this fixed. I know my friends are having problems as well getting dropped like yesterdays news... And if I loose my ship because of one of these drops I will not be a happy camper.

Lag was horrible, but I have only been on for a little bit to change skills over in the last 2 hours. But SBC DSL has been crap all weekend though, and BellSouth for a few of my corpmates. Don't know where the blame lies.

Anyone know the IP address of the EVE server? That way I can do a traceroute so I can see where my connection is dropping and whatnot... That way I now who exactly I should complain to. ;) ---------------

What's the deal? If it's just the fact that he servers are becoming over loaded due to the new EnB players we'll forgive you... Just stop keeping us in the dark! I've lost 100,000isk + due to getting dropped and not getting my agent time bonus.
Not to mention I had to search almost every astroid belt in a system to find my lost drone...
Bah!
And with this many people dropped, with many different ISP's, there is ONLY one place that could be the problem...
I was able to bounce around the net while I couldn't connect to Eve... So it wasn't my connection...

I played for like 8 hours yesterday, not once did i drop from the server and I had no lag. It only seems to happen in US prime time

I don't think it's a net issue. My ISP's servers are in London and they run the Jolt servers on their network, yet I had two drops last night. I played E&B for a year and hardly ever had a drop (or a CTD for that matter) so my connection must be pretty good.
Eve's client/server relationship doesn't seem to require request acknowledgements. I believe that is why you get messages about fastening your seatbelt if you undock too quickly - the server hasn't finished docking you. If that is correct then it's a great solution to lag (the client doesn't have to wait for a server response before portraying the action) but the trade-off is lowered stability (the client and server can easily get out of synch). -- (Battle hardened miner)

Edited by: McFly on 31/03/2004 10:43:05 I'm thinking those server upgrades way back when,(ended up not having Eve for what was it 3 days?)wasent enough. With all the new E&B players that are joining, I have been seeing 6k-7k players on quite a bit now (during peek times). The servers are in need of a little work, imho
Edit: Btw, I had 3 ctd's today, and each time I saw a lot of my friends on buddys list go befor me. Also got that lovely window 'The connection to the server was closed'. So I'd say it was'nt client side to those people who lost a ship.

Nildram? This ISP peers with above.net to reach the network that the EVE Online NOC peers with. There has been an intermittent problem on a router within the above.net network recently. Perhaps they've fixed it already; let's hope so. :)
