Originally by: Victor Ivanov I actually disagree with Tyrrax: There was no preferential treatment in the case of HUN reloaded, merely the application of an universal concept for competitions that is perceived as somewhat inevitable and common place:
The defending champion gets the right to defend their title.
That's all there is to it. If this was some arbitrary alliance like say "Victor Ivanov's 1 man alliance of doom" (Name copyrighted), and it'd get magically transported to the first spot of the reserve list: Sure, complaints would be justified.
Seeing as how "Victor Ivanov's 1 man alliance of doom" isn't partaking in this particular alliance tournament for fear of unfair odds towards the opposition, we can all rest easy knowing that all is well and there is a rational explanation as to why HUN got given the respect they rightfully deserve for winning the last tourney.
Defending a title means you have a tournament and the winner (#1 contender) of the tournament gets to then fight the existing reigning champion. Now I don't dissagree with you that the champs should get this respect and rightly so but CCP didn't seem to think so becuase they would have gotten a spot without having to register wouldn't you think?

CCP said, ok first come first get, no exceptions, these are the rules, if people drop out reserves get in in the order they apply. Then the champions fail to get in and people complain, one team drops out, first reserves get in (not HUN Reloaded), CCP reverse it because it was a misunderstanding.
Now another team gets removed from tourney by CCP (rather unfairly at that since they could've easily recreated alliance in time) CCP decide that HUN Reloaded get to advance to the front of the line..
You don't see anything wrong with that Victor ? like I said I think it's good for the tournament, but saying it's fair or consistent is utter rot.

I didn't say it was consistent nor fair. I said it was right, as it wasn't preferential treatment but rather the application of a rule that should have been there from the start. Faulty initial planning is at fault, which should have been prevented but wasn't. Honestly, anyone can invest 2 bill nowadays (1 bill for alliance creation and 1 bill to enter tourney) so it should have been expected that there'd be a huge influx of newer alliances.
Not that there is anything wrong with that, as such, but seeing as how the entry decision is regardless of skill or notoriety, I feel that yes: There should be around 5 slots reserved. 4 for the most well known pvp alliances, 1 for the returning champion. All the rest could then apply in the regular manner.
Hopefully this would saturate future tourneys with a more interesting combination of different strengths and alliances. After all, some of the more well known alliances got in, but the predominant trend is relative unknowns because there are more smaller alliances these days. Thus, you balance that trend by offering several veterans a spot, and the rest sorts itself in the ratio of 2:3 veterans:new guys.
Just my opinion on the matter anyway. ----------------------

I'm with you Tyrrax Thorrk. It's pretty bad to say a Tournament is first come first serve and then only let in whomever you want, even if it is a popular decision. What is next, giving some teams info on the other teams ship fits/positions to the teams that CCP likes? You can't trust CCP to do anything, but hey we play EVE so I guess we are all used to it and don't really mind :)
I can't believe that major f ups have already started, it is hilarious.

Thanks for the compliment McFly, but there's been way to many GM's mitts in the pie on this one. We are very discouraged and probably won't ever consider participating in any CCP sponsored event, EVER!
