Just happened in deep 0.0 space:
2 Thorax and 1 Raven jump ahead of me. They spot me at some point and then then all warp to the sun and log off.
I was in a frigate.
Great job CCP. Really great. -- Stories: #1 --

What alternative did you have in mind?
Persistant ships?

If you think Sally is feared, check this out.
I once jumped into Yulai and the local list dropped from 139 to 112 within 5 seconds.
I rock.

Log off timer when outside empire space and non allied players (standing 0.0 or lower) are in the same solar system + removal of safe spots.

CCP won't remove safespots for the same reason they won't remove insta-bm's.
Safespots will be fixed with black ops frigates, though.

Yeah, I know the reason.
I also know the reason why "auto fly to safe spot" when loging came into the game. -- Stories: #1 --

Welcome to the carebear's world, Sally. I know the feeling - I sometimes go to 4c-b7x to hunt some indies/frigates/shuttles in my Rifter. The first time I was there they deployed several BS at some stations and gates with launched drones and got some Vexors to hunt me. Now they just settle for sending out a Megathron or two to hunt me. :)

Wow, going by your logic, I'm feared in the Bleak Lands as well as every Warpgate and station in that region.

I don't understand what the problem is.

If they in fact jumped to the sun why didn't you also go there and hammer one of the thoraxs before they disappeared, or did you just not convey their actions very well?

Edited by: Zak Kingsman on 31/03/2004 15:43:52 Edited by: Zak Kingsman on 31/03/2004 15:43:05 log off timer won't help in the situation you just described sally, all they have to do is throw a bookmark on their warp to the sun. Warp to that safespot and log. There's no way you would reach them in time unless they happened to be extremely close to some other celestial body.
One AU is approximately (1 light minute * 8)or 143900379.84 km So even if you're in a interceptor able to maintain 3.5km/sec it would take you 14275 days to go half an AU Good luck getting them to make a log off timer that long.

Persistant ships at random safespots would be great, but that will mean no more logoff in 0.0 outside a station.

I think a logoff timer would be great if Eve were stable. For the past few months I've hardly ever had a CTD or had a server node dump me. Then, in the last few days, I have seen mates get dropped wholesale. Come back on and get dropped again 10 minutes later. Last night alone I got dropped from the game four times in 3 hours. I'd come back on and watch the corp chat repopulate as clearly it was loads of us who got dropped and not just me (I highly doubt it is my PC or connection). It was almost funny watching the people I have addressbooked roll on and offline in bunches.
I think logging is a crap 'tactic' and one I never do (as any number of pirates who have ganked me in the past can attest to...I politely stay there and blow up for them ). Still, if EVE's stability can't be guaranteed to a high percentage having a half dozen ships floating in space on a logoff timer because they all got dropped at once is not a good thing either.

Cloak Generators as a deployable structure for parking your ships in space would be a nice addition.
Each being able to hide anything from the lone ship to whole fleets depending on their size and skill of the operators.

I bet there was a stargate at the other side of that sun and they simply warped to it and jumped. Completelly oblivious to the fact that sally was in system. I've been accused of running too when just travelling without paying attention. The egos in this game

a log off timer of 5h with a random safespot generator will definitely make the logging 'tactic' useless hehe. and you will still be able to logoff in space without any worries if nobody is looking for you ship

The log off tactic during a battle seems to have a new side effect. If a guy logs off then on, that knows his battleship is dead will get a free insta-warp to a safespot with his pod.
Has anyone else seen this or was it just a figment of my imagination.
The guy dropped from local and then came back on right after his ship was toast. The pod should have died that warped out. There were about 3 torps exploding right next to it as it warped away. Splash damage should have killed it instantly.
Sorry for being off topic.......... SNIGG is now officially open for business. We are a merc corp looking for contracts. For more info click below http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=68313 |

"Missiles no longer cause splash damage, but torpedoes do" <- maybe someone made a typo? Anyway, pods warp fast and is it even possible to kill a pod while it is still cloaked (afaik, pods start off cloaked and then warp out if your not connected) ====================================

I seem to have the same problem sometimes. I think it is the char name and corp name. We are nice people really.

BTW there is an opening for 1 more corp memeber must be named: Famine or something close.
Death War & Pestilence are already taken.

So HMV consider Andy Williams and Dean Martin to be "easy listening" do they? Tell that to my mate Dave, he's been deaf for 20 years.
