Out of all my experience, I have never been able to lock down and scramble a pod. Without the use of bubbles, what would be needed to lock one quick enough and scramble it before it warps?

Number of tricks:
1. Use a T2 Sensor Booster with scan resolution scripts, better yet use 2 T2 Sensor Boosters. 2. Fly a Crusier/HAC sized ship rather than a BS, you will lock faster. 3. Have the skill Signature Analysis at V.
Personally I usually fly a cruiser in PvP and my role in small gang warfare is to pop drones and pods.

Would a frigate class ship be necessary to do this or would it be possible in a cruiser? Perhaps a recon ship? =D

I found Cruiser class to be good enough. Frigs would probably be too fragile, maybe an Assault Frig if you must. Anything cruiser based (HAC/HIC/RECON) will be sufficient.

I double sensor boost on my onyx sometimes, and it catches them quite nicely. Also train signature analysis to 5...

Would a cloak be an absolute no-no to fit as it increase your lock on time?

Yeah, even if your Cloaking skills are at lvl V you still might miss the pod if you decloak to lock it. Like has been said Crusier sized Hull and Sensor Boosters with Scan Resolution Scripts for Pod squishing.

I have seen/gotten solo pod kills in battleships with no bubbles.
requires large amounts of idiocy, but it works... ~1% of the time.
sensorboosted hacs/hics work quite well also.

Inty is one way to go. The other is: 1) Lag 2) Stupid victum 3) Medium locking speed

Yes yes I'm quoting the OP. :P
I can tell you why you are unable to lock down pods.
It's because you NEVER LOG IN WITH YOUR MAIN TO KILL STUFF ANYMORE.

I'm amazed by the amount of pilots that just sit about in their pod after losing their ship, Like wabbits caught in headlights leaving enough time for a command ship to lock it.
maybe they get fooled by the gfx of the scripted bubble and just assume they can't warp off

An interceptor with 3 sensor boosters with scan res scripts will guarante you lock down ANY pod.

A lachy w/ 2 sens booster IIs and a sig amplifier II nabs 'em fairly consistantly. It's not perfect, but I've had good results. If it absolutely must die, stiletto with sens booster ;)

The Combat Recons (Curse, Rook, Lachesis, Huginn) have a higher base scan res than both of their racial HACs, while the Force Recons (Pilgrim, Falcon, Arazu, Rapier) have a worse scan res than both of their racial HACs. So you'll have to devote at least one midslot to a sensor booster to lock quicker than a Combat Recon.

bubble it.
it's the only way to catch a half-decent, lag-free pod. Signature removed. Too large and flashing signatures are not really permitted. Navigator |

If they know what they're doing you won't lock them whatever you're in without a bubble.
Fortunately there's alot of people who don't know what they're doing.

Heh, I use a Jag with Two res scripted sensor boosters (and a warp scrambler to hold)...
I can say it definitely works, but it still won't catch station undocking invulnerable pods *Whimper*
