Xirt is a legend, mostly for all the wrong reasons, but a legend nether the less.
There are people in this game who provide content for the corp they lead, xirt is one of them.
If your in his corp or alliance you'll be promised a rollercoaster ride, the rollercoaster may not be fully operational, fail most of the time or indeed may not function as first advertised, but enjoy it, because it can be one hell of a riot.

Xirtam is an ass and a fool, and more than that he is someone who makes no excuses for who or what he is,I have spent a little time on ts w him in my fountain days and while I never thought he was any good as a Field Commander I still like the guy ,mostly because he is xirtam and makes no pretenses

Umm, you started with the ad hominem attacks, dismissing him because he was a 'nobody' and 'only started playing in 2006'.
From my personal experience during the botched attack on D-R space in Feyth last August/September somewhere, I'd call Xirtam a very colorful person, as well as a pretty mediocre FC. I was a EU TZ FC and people in my corp/alliance from the US TZ were 'not really impressed' by Xirtam to the point where they refused to turn up in fleets if he was FCing. Aside from his failures in space, his...shall we call it boisterous...attitude managed to cause participation to drop significantly.
I only flew with him maybe twice, so I won't claim extensive personal experience with him, though from those occasions I could understand why our US TZ people were complaining.

A better question would be: Why is anyone still willing to follow Xirtam in anything he does anymore?
See Xirt is a good motivator and is very good with people. Back in the day he used to be a good fleet commander. he randomly goes afk due to real life issues which you can't blame him for. Now what hasn't happened is his ability to adapt his fleet commanding ability to modern warfare.
