Edited by: Alcran on 15/02/2008 16:19:35 Hey, a m8 told me that with the right ship, you can get anyone podded without bubbling the area.
If say I'm into structure with say 300 HP structure left and I pick an object and spam "Warp To" on the selected object, will that person be able to catch my pod? Is there any instance in which this can happen?

you can get surprised, say you're flying a shuttle and someone decloaks a stealth bomber and 1 shots you. you might not react in time, a sensor boosted interceptor will probably get a lock on you in time.
you can get unlucky / lagged out by the explosion graphics.
in my ceptor i generally catch 3/4 pods, without bubbles. perhaps my targets have been asleep *shrug*

It's a matter of lag / how early you start spamming the button on your part, vs. how fast they are to target-lock you and then warp-jam you.
A pod is small and thus takes a long time to lock, but it's possible to enhance the lock times to the point where they're almost instant, even on a pod, and it's very likely that a gate camp will have insta-locking ships among their members.
As far as warp-jamming you, that's also a matter of making sure that there's a warp disruptor module available; people less skilled will have all their jammers cycling on your (or other) ship(s) at the moment of death, but those very skilled will either keep a disruptor in reserve just for your pod, or will time their disruptor module so it's ready when your pod appears.
It's reflexes and lag on all sides of the combat engagement.

It's a combination of luck and lag. Intys and AFs can be setup with such a high scan resolution that they can lock even pods almost instantly. The saving grace is that most people won't have a specially setup inty/AF waiting there to grab your pod.... but if they do, they've got a reasonable chance of getting it.

Also, a large smartbomb can pop a pod w/o having to acquire a lock.

The simple answer to your question is: Yes.
You are very likely to get Podded no matter where you are. A lot of people do it, rather for Killmails or for lowering their Sec Status and it is not hard to do. Just get together an Insta-Lock ship or use a Smart Bomb and Pods are no protection. +++++++++++++++ For the LAST time... Keep your UGLY Typhoon off my SEXY Hurricane! |
