Right, personally I have tried many setups on the test server to see if the pilgrim can be salvaged. I have seen a movie or two since trinity/nos nerf about the pilgrim one of which shows the guy doing rather well for himself in it, however I cannot seem to get similar results at the moment...maybe because everyone on the test server goes T2 nuts....
My question is, before I buy the pilgrim on tranq what setup should I use for low sec pvp? belt searching and stuff? It still has high resistances and nos bonuses.....any ideas?
(yes i am fairly aware that the pilgrim was uber nerfed with the nos change so spare me the time and you by not posting "pilgrim is dead, move on" or anything along those lines)

As a pilgrim pilot b4 and after nerf, it's really a waste of time and money. Sure, you might kill something, but more likely you will get killed.
Fengs video and post are exaggerated. Read the replies to his posts to see why.
If u want some variety, try an ECM burst and remote damp setup. It's still really ****ty, but at least it's different. Or fit tracking disruptors and go after turret ships only and pray they don't have webs.
And now for mini-flame: Since you didn't mention the neutralizer bonus I assume you are a nos/neut mechanics noob. Not good on an amarr recon.
Bottom line: Pilgrim is dead, move on

Wait until TDs get falloff on them and use 3 neuts. The TD will seriously reduce the DPS from blasters/autocannons and some laser ships, and with 3 neuts you can drop their cap fairly quickly. Once theyre empty, cycle neuts whenever they start firing/tanking.
The ship really does need Recon 5 to fit properly though due to it's CPU.

My current plan for the pilgrim btw is:
3x Neuts, cloak ABII, med inject, web, scram, balmer TD MARII, 2x eanm, dc, 800mm plate 1-2 egress port maximizers, 0-1 aux nano pump.
Probably wont work though. After that one dies I'll try 2x neuts 1x nos w/ MWD. After that 3x nos dual rep mwd 400 charges. After all 3 of those die I'll probably just cry a little inside.

Edited by: General Coochie on 15/02/2008 21:42:59 You don't need a recon to belt piracy.. You will just end up loosing a lot of isk. How bout an arbitrator? enough to gank nubs ratting, and if u get into a trap/attacks anything else then a nub you wont loose 100mill+.
Pirating solo in a recon/hac just isn't profitable for most ppl in the long run. Ask feng shui how much isk he lost during the last months..

Most people on these forums have proclaimed the pilgrim dead as a solo ship. But How does it hold up in small gangs? Or even with an alt backing it up?
I will have recons V soon and was thinking of skilling up amarr cruisers just for this ship.

It's totally useless in gangs. I very rarely see pilgrims in gangs and when I do, they don't come back.

22 pages of discussion about the Pilgrim, right here.
Basically it comes down to: Don't bother grabbing this ship.
I've made some tests myself recently on SiSi, and it boils down to something like this:
High: 2x Med Dim NOS, 1x Med Unstable Neut, COCD II Meds: 10MN AB II, Scram, Web, 2x Multispec ECM (2x Gravimetric for hunting down Ravens) Lows: MAR II, DCU II, EANM II, Thermic Energized II, 1600mm RT Rigs: 1x Ancillary Current Router I, Anti-Kinetic Pump I Drones: yeah drones
I've managed to kill sme Zealots and Deimos along other Cruisers. Battlecruisers are tough targets allready if you fail at jamming them 1/3 to 1/2 of the time. Forget about Battleships, but you can get lucky if the pilot is a n00b.
Grab a Curse and dictate the range. You'll win more often and you can run, if things get hairy. If the Zealot hits Tranq like it's on SiSi atm, then you have another much more suited ship for roaming LowSec solo. .

Depends on the gang. If its a "normal" gang, there are crap tons of ships that are better than a Pilgrim.
If its a cloaky cloaky gang, the Pilgrim is good as a DPS dealer + tank neutralizer. 2 of them are better.
Be prepared to be the "main tank" of the gang though, since you operate within web range and targeting range, even if the opponent is being damped by an Arazu.
Gotta love the script nerfs.
