Edited by: Imuro on 16/02/2008 11:24:15 I had a long break in EVE. And now, after I come back I see that ,gate camping with those stupid bubbles everywhere. And only a few ppl in belts/ratting. So have an adventure through the galaxy and kill whatever you find in belts npc or player is not an option anymore?
Solo PvP never been the best way of pvp in eve, but it isn't an option anymore? Or I see things too dark, and fly alone and hunt some is still fun? :)

One can still find good small gang and solo pvp quite easily in low -sec. I find that small gang and solo in 0.0 tends to just be nano gangs.

yerp...gatecamps and dictors force solo pvpers to use nanosetups if they want to survive once someone sees u in local or mentiones ur position in alliance chat. especially carebears tend to bubble up gates once a single neutral is in local. imo nanos are highly encouraged by this kind of tactic since there are no ways of getting in or out of a system than tru those choke points which will get u killed once a bubble is set up.
i would be ace if ccp would introduce something that gives u a fair chance to survive a gate camp. ideas:
- a caphungry stealth module that extremeley reduces ur sigradius for a short period of time so the enemy needs way longer to lock u and u have a fair chance of flying out of the bubble.
- a decoy beacon launched from a specialized launcher which increases locking time for everyone in its perimeter. say it reduces the sensor resolution by 75% for 3 seconds.
- a counter measure flare which tricks the enemy and launches a small amout of devices with the same icons/names/alliance tickers etc. as ur ship into space/overview. so the enemy will have to visually zoom in and decide which one of the icons is really u and which are a decoy.
the flares however should disrupt the locking range and sensor resolution of the flare firing pilot by 99% so u cant exploit this in combat but only for self-defense. (i like this idea most btw)

If your going to solo in a BS its dead and pretty sure its always been dead. You have to get in a small ship to avoid gate camps, small is frig or cruiser. Also gatecamps aren't as common in low sec as empire dwellers would like you to beleive. 0.0 I don't have that much xp in but I tended to get run over by zenobytes. When I want action at slower times I have a 30 system circuit I run that goes from a active low system to a 0.0 npc entrance system. All systems are BM'd for scanning so its pretty quik to cover alot of ground.

Well I feel the same.
That bubble thing is terrible. 1-2 years ago we had chance to survive a gate camp with good fit for it. But now? If you are in a bubble, no escape.
I prefer solo or very small gang pvp. But its getting harder these days as I see. I lost 2x T2 frigs in bubbles.
I hope CCP will give us something against it.

low sec solo pvp still exists, you just have to spend a little time finding it. also make sure you use cruisers, BCs or HACs; BSes just don't work for solo in low sec (you'll get blobbed ;))

Also when it comes to gate camps, use the map and you can usually tell where they are formed. I flew around the universe starting from Querious in a afterburner fit punisher. I didn't get into any serious trouble until I came all the way back around to delve and got ganged (obviously).

This. Low-sec will still take a soloer; there's more baiting and 5v1s then there used to be (or is it my impression?) but you can still solo (preferably not on weekends though, gangs are more often and bigger on weekends).
Having some friends so you can take on the small gangs is always nice.
Don't fight people from most merc corps, they're very likely to operate in gangs rather then solo (or bait you while having cloaking recons sitting around), so just don't play with them (just check local really, you should already be doing this anyway).
Also, if you solo in a BS (or commandship or something of the sort), I give you 99% chance of being blobbed and not getting a solo fight. If you solo in a FOTM ship, you have a 99% chance of not getting a fight in the first place.

LoL.
More like the Prey whined and whined and cryed so CCP did the Adaptions for them... God forbid we travel 15km to a gate, we make it warp to 0km... God forbid that we need to go to low sec or 0.0 to make isk, we make lvl 4 missions in high sec so you can make billions a week without any risk......

We are talking about solo PVP, not about ganks and hauler/npc'er shooting... and regarding the warp to 0 Km you know that when the "victim" jumps he will be at 15km from gate on the other side...

From my experience solo and small gang pvp is dead. I've tried low sec and its crap, theres HIC's on every gate now and they all use recons. As for 0.0...well..me and a friend randomly jumped into a chokepoint in two bs's, we knew it wasn't going to end well but we thought **** it. There were 2 bs and 2 battlecruisers on the gate, and we thought hey we can take this. Then 4 falcons uncloaked and 20 odd ships warped in, overkill

Why do people keep posting this? Before warp to zero, we still had warp to zero, it was just more annoying. Also, the main reason they changed it is because the fact that every single celestial object had 10,000 bookmarks stapled to it was causing the server to **** itself.

But it required some effort before you could go blobbing somewhere. So most ppl just remained lazy and didn't

Solo PvP is dead for me. I don't enjoy nano and I don't enjoy small ships (I've tried both on numerous occasions), so I'm basically screwed. I miss the days when I could just grab my machariel and see what I could find to pew-pew. Now it just sits in the hangar due to blobs, ubertanks, and broken recons. -Wrayeth n00b Extraordinaire "Look, pa! I just contributed absolutely nothing to this thread!" |

No it didn't. You could buy complete low sec bookmark packages from people. It was just another stupid boring ISK grind stapled onto the game as a PvP prerequisite that helped no one. I guess you could say it removed WTZ in 0.0, but dictors pretty much negate the advantage of WTZ out there.
