if you go the command ship route, that also opens up HACs. The Zealot is getting a massive boost in the next patch, and the absolution is incredible. The Sacriledge is pretty damned powerful as well, so you can max med guns and support skills, fly both the absolution and zealot, and train missiles if you want some variety.

well a BS is cheeper thou a command ship is more agile and versatile.
I personaly prefere commandships since money is no bigg issue for me and becouse i don't realy like big ships. tbh i'd get a HAC or Recon over a commandship only for the reson that i prefere small ships.

Depends on the style of PVP. Battleships are best at: Long range. High dps. Being built in 0.0.
Command ships are really good at:
Tanking Killing midsized ships Moving around (e.g. roaming gang) Running ganglinks Being expensive.
So, depends what you're looking for in PvP. Battleships have their place, and are very good at what they do, but for a more general purposes combat ship, that brings a good solid mix of tank, firepower and mobility, a field command is hard to beat. -- Crane needs more grid 249km locking? |

Except the nano sleip i wouldnt really suggest soloing in either a bs or cs. Too big a target, and the population spike in eve is starting to show imo. It's either a noob or its a trap or its a noob that's really a trap more often than not if its solo in lowsec.
Not always, but much more so than even 8 months ago.

If you truly wanna own go battleship, no doubt about it. If you want style points for kills go commandship.
Seriously, battleships = heavy neut = ownage. -------------------------------------- The Inquisition III - Relentless Retaliation |

I vastly prefer command ships.
Currently am finishing speccing into Amarr ships (currently have Gallente and Mimatar CS). Being versatile and being skilled in a variety of races is better when the nerf bat gets swung.
The reason I pick CS is, it takes less time to cross train into another race. The commandship skill may be a rank eight, but you only have to train it once. Unlike training the rank eight for each race of BS you want to pvp in. Training the different tech two medium weapon platforms also takes less time than larges.
Both ship classes DO take a large amount of SP to be effective though. By training for CS first, you'll have a great starting point for training to BS if you don't like them.

People like command ships cause their damage isn't too much worse than a BS and they have better speed and much better tracking.
Battleships still dps and tank better, and with much better range. And as mentioned, can neut smaller ship's faces off. That can cripple their defense and offense. Unless its a nighthawk.

basically, it comes down to one thing: mobility.
HACs and command ships: good for roaming gangs BSs: require support, cant really roam too well...mostly used for fleet warfare and camping gates
command ships and BSs have comparable dps, so dont let this be the deciding factor.

i would go with the battleship first and get a HAC as well, if you like being zippy yet have punny DPS zealot the absolution will give you that much needed dps while maintaining a degree of zippyness.
If you like the "HULK SMASH" mentality you could go with the abaddon, it does a lot more damage than a zealot or sac but on the otherhand you are the proverbial sitting duck, unless your in dock range, your dead. -------------

Simple way to decide: are you going to get max Armored Warfare skills with the mindlink? If yes, get the Absolution. If not, just get the battleship.

It's tricky. One can say CS do not DPS or Tank like a battleship, but there's increased resists and multiple boni we musn't forget, as well as a lowered sig radius.
The biggest problem personally is, for PvP, costs. A 55m Domi vs a 175m CommandShip, and insurance of 60m vs 30m (I'm guessing) respectivelly the latter is just really expensive to lose without much payout when you do lose it. For someone who wants to make isk from PvP, a rigged 250-300m CS is hard to break-even on.
I can't say either ship is much better, it all comes down to preference. You'll be happy with both, but a BS that can tank, gank and put some serious energy-drain on targets for little isk makes a pirate quite happy.
Lastly, it depends on the type of targets too. CS has an easier time on small stuff basically. Selling Character |

The CS is much more fun to fly but it hurts much more to lose. I personally like the BS more just because a close range BS can take a close range CS.
can you lose 10 CS a month and not hurt? Get a CS 175 mil for the ship 25 mil for fitting 50 mil in rigs 0 insurance cause I don't lose them fast enough ----------------------------------- 250 out the window when I die
BS 90 mil for the ship 25 mil for the fitting 0 mil on rigs 30 mil on insurance --------------------- 145 - 105 insurance pay out = 45 to lose one
