If we have a mining operation on the we have our corporations fighter wing all in Kestrals with heavy missiles in space and as part of a seperate corp or freelance. As soon as an ore thief drops in, even in 0.5+ space we vape them then run. Concord turn up maybe take out a couple of kests but hey, its cheaper than losing the ore.
Ore thieves are a part of life, we just gotta do all we can to stop them. Its like setting the burgler alarm on my home, buying a guard dog, setting up the claymore mines and sharpening my samurai sword all to deter burglars.
PS Dont try and burgle my home

I can't understand ore thieves period, someone just spend hours doing the most boring activity in the game too afford/build whatever, and you steal it cause due to faulty game mechanics you can.
Then again I don't understand apocs strip mining 0.5> systems as their main way of earning isk either, strip mining to meet BS production tri needs is one thing, but doing it to make a living is just plain pathetic. ~{When evil and strange get together anything is possible}~ A tool is only useless when you don't know how to use it. - ActiveX The grass is always greener on the other side. - JoCool |

if she could speak for the legions of folk that also ore thief then it might be worth discussing, but one lone ore thief couldn't steal enough ore to make a noticeable change in our production and horrifying Battleship mining operations (which usually aren't even in 0.5 anyways and since ore thieving only hurts small corps and newer players...) does the shark notice the Remoraādo people notice mites? Ore thieves are too insignificant to warrant consideration for diplomacy, they at best serve as legitimate sport hunting.
We have killed dozens of pretend pirates just for the fun of murdering a thief, your nothing special or different and your easy enough to kill in empire space...trust me wench (to quote doby "Dude...Your alt is a woman!")

lol if someone will pay you to stop stealing their ore, all the power to you.
Quote: Now, I can't have respect for someone actually exploiting games mechanism to get the money of other players without taking some risk. Ok, they jettison it, they are faulty. But if I would be an ore thief, I wouldn't come here to claim it. You can turn all the ways you want, it is basicelly a proof of your lame mentality.
why is ore thieving an exploit? there are game mechanisms to counter it. there are secure cans, there is less secure space, the stations are in the same system you are mining in. an indy can collect the ore as its jettisoned, kind of like dump trucks lined up to take a load. there are plenty of ways to prevent ore theft as inconvenient as they may be.

Quote: ahh my little ore thievers...i know one day i'm gonna be seing you boys ransoming the right way. i.e. ships not ore. but gg for now keep up the good work boys.
note to all you strip miners in empire. if you have a cruiser you should be in atleast .1-.4 the npc's aren't sh!t. and anyone flying a battleship should be mining in <=.4 there's no reason for you guys to be wrecking the belts for the newbies. just try it out for a week. maybe ur balls will drop finally.
p.s. these gentlemenly ore thieves don't bother me why you ask? cause i live in 0.0 where the real eve begins. b-vip is the way to hell my friend...
Here here.
The only solution will be to ban bships from secure space, just as you wouldnt be allowed to drive a sqadron of tanks into london you should not be stipmining with a fleet of bships in empire.
When it happens, you will have only yourselves to blame.

Wont Shiva contraband tags sort this problem out? Id love to see those scumbag ore thieves in 1.0 get popped in 0.001 secs cos they tried pickin up some noobs ore.
Also when shiva goes live, Id like to see people with 'contraband tagged items' flagged as killable. would make it more interesting..

Hmm, a commerical thread? Fair enough...
Also appraoched for a pass by one of these creative giants of industry? Simply ask in local and/or your n00b corpchat if there are any free, bored alts about. For Absolutely 0 Isk - That's Right, Zero Isk! - a Bored Alt will come and suicide on the twit attempting to extort you. Infinitely! As long as you need to cover your op!
After all, it's fair and legal to do it at gates TO n00bs... why not put better use to those missiles before CONCORD shows up and crashes your party, and splash a few ore thieves FOR n00bs! Quoth one recent gate-ganker in Yulai, "Hey man, i may splash Velators and Reapers at absolutely no risk to my clone nor appreciable loss of resources while my friend in the indy scoops up your meagre possessions without even a twitch in his sec rating, but at least i ain't no ore thief!"
Act now! Supplies are pretty much unlimited especially on big "stuck" days. All Bored Alts are encouraged to try this program now for fun and excitement, plus the possibility of later recovering the thief's own possessions for larfs.

Let us get one thing straight however, the only 'faulty mechanic' is people thinking a trashcan is a good thing to keep valuable stuff in. This has been done to death. The jettison can does not know you put Jaspet in it instead of Crap and it does not care and neither does CCP. Those cans were NEVER meant to be temporary mining platforms. EVER!
and i'd like to clarify the above offer is for twits clearly going after n00bs, i find the folks posting about targetting bship stripminers pretty darn funny
