I just patched Eve after the longer downtime tody. But I still get the STATUS: INCOMPATIBLE (PROTOCOL). My friend got "checking status..." next to his username.
I was online about 12 GMT today he was not.
I already have a bad day and now that

So now I even rebooted the computer but the STATUS message has not changed.
Additionally the Eve-Patches page throws now a 500 Internatl Server Error.
Looks like a bigger party today in the shebang. |

I have the same issue. I downloaded the patch for premium content about 10 minutes ago, and I get the "Incompatible Protocol" error, and it won't let me login.
Although, on my 2nd computer, I'm not running the premium content and I patched and am able to get in fine.
Help?

Hmm, that might be a hint but I dunno how to practically use it. The problem is that I can only install the classic (non-premium) patch but I know that I once donwloaded the premium stuff but deactivated it because my GFX-Card is not that powerfull (only for opengl). So I disabled HDR and such to get a better ingame performance. I'll try activating zig and zag now, maybe it helps.

i think i found the problem!!! its in the shortcut i believe! each time i use the old shortcut i allways used, it gives the PROTOCOL thing, but when i use the new shortcut that EVE putted in my desktop, it works! i tried it over and over and its allways works with the new, and gives protocol error with the old!
just try to run it directly from the eve folder and dont use shortcuts, or create a new one!

According to CCP: http://myeve.eve-online.com/news.asp?a=single&nid=1793&tid=1
Due to an unforeseen side-effect of the attempt at compiled code patching back in January it appears that the newly patched Trinity 1.0.2 client was still using the downloaded compiled.code from the hotfix in January, and thus the machonet version number did not match.
If you are getting the error "Incompatible (Protocol)" when trying to connect to Tranquility post Trinity 1.0.2 patch, it is because of this previous patch. To alleviate the problem you need to do one of the following:
1. Go into the following directory, and delete the contents: XP: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\CCP Vista: C:\ProgramData\CCP Mac: /Users//Library/Preferences/EVE Online Preferences/p_drive/All Users/Application Data/CCP Linux: /.cedega/EVE Online/c_drive/Documents and Settings/All Users/Application Data 2. If you using a shortcut to launch Eve, you can simply change the case of the link, for example change C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE to C:\program files\ccp\eve

FIXED FOR ME: direct execution of eve.exe inside eve-installation-dir does now work (I thought I tried that with no luck already but I think I choosed the safemode-link in there only).
Using my old Shortcut on the Desktop does still produce the incompatible Protocol Status Message.
Thanks for all the Feedback!

Edited by: kan han on 19/02/2008 19:16:45 FOR WINDOWS XP USERS: If you have trouble finding the directory to delete, do the following:
1.) Press WIN+R 2.) A "Run" Dialog opens 3.) Enter "cmd" in the combobox. 4.) Press ENTER. 5.) Black Window with a blinking cursor and a Title named "C:\WINDOWS\system32\cmd.exe" will open. (In case you have a nonstandard windows installation the beginning of the title might change a bit.) 6.) At the blinking Cursor type in "explorer "%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Application Data\CCP"" and hit ENTER (preserve the inner quotes). 7.) Windows Explorer will open and Show the directory describben on http://myeve.eve-online.com/news.asp?a=single&nid=1793&tid=1 under point 1.) 8.) If you can see something, continue like describben there, if not, please let me know here.
ALL " for quoting. You do not need to type them in. ENTER = Press Enter Key. WIN = Windows Key (That's the Key with the Flag on a windows Keyboard).
If you take this right directory, you won't delete your settings. When I looked into that directory there was only one file and it was "compiled" related.

Hmm, it's a pitty I have not written down of the single file that I deleted to fix the problem. It was something with "compile" in its name, but as said, this is only a assumption afterwards.
Maybe you can search your harddisk for such file an can find it. It should be in something like an EVE or CCP folder or at least EVE and/or CCP should be part of the path of such a file.
Maybe a GA can tell how the file is named, that would make it easier to discover it.
