Originally by: Tairos Hakonnus What a headache. Two computer and only one took the patch. The computer with windows vista still shows incopat. protocol. Tired this renaming thing and still nothing. would be nice for CCP to give step by step driections to fix this. hmmmmm anyone have any simple ideas to fix the problem.
Start a command line window. (e.g. START->run->"cmd"+enter)
type: "cd \"+enter
type: "dir compiled.code /s/p"+enter
a list will show up like this:
Quote: Volume in drive H is H300S Volume Serial Number is 743A-4180
Directory of H:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\CCP\EVE\9052800b8f0a33c623495b9bceab1920
17.01.2008 13:48 4.471.581 compiled.code 1 File(s) 4.471.581 bytes
Directory of H:\Program Files\CCP\EVE\script
19.02.2008 14:35 4.471.581 compiled.code 1 File(s) 4.471.581 bytes
now delete the first one, e.g.:
type: "del 'H:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\CCP\EVE\9052800b8f0a33c623495b9bceab1920\compiled.code"+enter

Hmmm
I log in, download the patch, start it. Restart Eve and can't log in - incompatible protocol.
One might have thought that CCP would have learned a bit from Trinity and the boot.ini desaster.

Deleting this folder:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\CCP
had absolutley no effect whatsoever. Running XP here. Thanks to the people here for giving some info to try at least.
CCP - please stop with the nerfing and boost something already. |

hey, that LEARNED---that's the problem. The patch deleted one file LESS than it should have...

If you cant wait for a CCP response (like me ) uninstall eve, purge ur machine of all EVE files & reinstall it. Worked for me (sure i have to redo all my bm folders etc but im one of those strange creatures that quite likes doing so )

I have Windows VISTA and renaming the file
C:\ProgramData\CCP
Worked like a charm. I am in.
P.S. You have to unhide the hidden and system folders to see this folder though.
