You can fit POS structures inside it. 3K cans are capped at 3900 space for a reason, prevents people fitting 4 4K structures inside a 9K hauler, and such. |

I'd have to disagree for one very obvious reason. Jet cans are 27,000 m^3 no matter if a Frigate or Industrial jettisons it, if they weren't meant to be used for mining wouldn't it be more appropriate that they reflect the size of the ship's hold that jettisoned it? So a Frigate with a hold 130 m^3 should only be able to create a jet can 130 m^3 if the logic you and others present holds true.
Agree completely. This should be implemented right away.
Jettisoned cans should only be as large as the cargo bay of the ship. It's absurd enough that a ship can already potentially deploy an unlimited amount of jetcans, regardless of size.
There should also be additional functionality for inventory management, to let people literally jettison materials to be lost in space (destroy items instantly, no 2-minute waiting period). |

Instead of going around and around in an argument with no finite end to sight, with bad analogies, how about 1- Mine in a place with few people. Check local, and try and find a nice quiet system. 2- try and keep tabs on a combat ready friend in your corp who is nearby to make the flipper feel the pain 3- Mine in secure containers. yes, they are small, but you shouldn't need more than 2-3 you can keep tabs on, and empty as needed. you lose 5 minutes tops of you know how to use a hauler right. 4- alternatively, Find some lowsec with "Friendly" people who for a small fee will let you mine to your heart's content without worry. as long as you mine in a system with a station there, you should be fine as long as you check local. 5 - As 4, but insert 0.0 Here. and they have better Ores, too! 6 - Just dock, or warp to another system after hitting a random moon, logout for 15 minutes after jumping. Calm down, don't try and aggress, try and find a nice tucked off system and start anew. (Make sure to move your hauler, too)
Hopefully, some helpful advice

As a miner, I hate can flipping. Yes I am an unashamed carebear.
However...
As a player, I think it's a valid tactic. Miners are given a huge storage space to mine into. It is vulnerable. Risk vs. reward.
However...
As can flipping is already seen as a hostile action by CONCORD (as shown by the blinky red light when it's performed) a slight drop in security status should happen.
You commit a crime, you deal with the consequences.

Miners whined and whined and whined because anybody could just steal their exploit cans of ore with no consequence, till ccp finally gave in and implemented the 15 minute aggression timer, which the miners WANTED.
And what happened? Miners owned themselves in the face.
Its gonna have with salvaging too, if the whiners get their way.
This, I wasn't around pre can flagging but it wouldn't surprise me if the only ore thieves back then where just that people who wanted to steal the ore for themselves, ofc I bet some people did it to aggravate the miner but I'm still betting most where after the ore.
Now because of the way flagging works people do it so they can kill the miner. ---------------------------------------------- Piebears <3 Risk Vs Reward.......You take the risk they take the reward. |

There is already a large, mining secure can in the game. Depending on how you fit it (iirc ... mine isn't here) you can get on the order of 17K in it ..... it is called ..... A HULK.
Bmk location, mine into hld, fly to station, unload, fly to bmk. Repeat as often as required.
Doh! Ruf.

Eve is a wretched hive of scum and villainy when you have can flippers who flip your can into theirs and then pop their can right in front of you.

That makes absolutely no sense you even think about that statement? If you're going to warp away from your mining spot then why not just safely deposit your ore in station?
1) docking takes MUCH longer (session changes, loading data, etc) than just warping a safe spot less than 1 AU away.
2) when mining ice and it takes 6 (or more) minutes for one cycle, the 30 sec to warp to a safe spot and back again is worth the added security.
3) this tactic is commonly called "ninja mining" and is more useful in lowsec when docking and undocking can be very dangerous.
~~~~ ~~~~ ~~~~ Take away the risk and it would make flying around in space utterly pointless.
Take away the flying around part and you make EVE into a space themed spreadsheet application. |
