I'm into buying new gf card. R 9600 beats Fx 5600 in all test, but apperently there is problems with the 9600 and EVE what I heard (EVE frezing...)
I would like to hear others experienses with this ATI card and EVE, AND if you had problems, where you able to get around it ?

Edited by: IsmaelYU5 Iluvatar on 02/04/2004 12:04:11 i use a R9600 XT from sapphire (fireblade edition) and don't have noticed any problems till now
about the brands, the differnences i know is that they use different VideoRAM (TSOP or BGA) with different timings or frequencies. BGA is newer and faster but more expensiv, mostly all cards with 256MB have TSOP with lower timings but they're usally not "visible" in games, another thing is that the cooler is different, sapphire has low noise coolers only for example
about the drivers, u can use the org.ATI Catalyst driver vor radeons on all vidcards with a radeon GPU (for all brands)

Edited by: Mr Xzomo on 02/04/2004 12:11:15 Is there any way to know if there is BGA or TSOP in the card? 256mb = TSOP 128mb = BGA ? Since the BGA was more expensive.

Hey, i have a Sapphire Radeon 9600 PRO Atlantis, and i DO have problems with displaying stations and stargates. Since i can't put the problem into words, i'm just gonna attach this pic to show what i mean. I've marked a part with blue lines for those who can't notice.

Try adding advancedDevice=1 into your prefs.ini file(in the cache folder) then when in game hit escape, select the graphics tab and setting the colour depth to 24bit and the z-buffer to 24bit also, that totally cleared up the proble I think I'm seeing in your screenshot.

YAY! That worked like a charm. I had a feeling it had something to do with the Z buffer but didn't know how (or even if) it could be fixed. Thanks!
