hi all so likeprobably most of you all i dl the patch yday as allways, however the day went on an i left mylaptop tofall asleep. i returned and go to wake it up - nothing - screen black but all the key lights are on. so i hold power down turn it off an turn back on - again black screen followed by 1 long internal beep then two short beeps. thats a video related error i think. now i kno sh*t all about this tech stuff. my laptop during boot.ini was affected but when i turned on it said invalid boot.ini but turned on fine regardless. yday i took out the battery an held powerfor over 30 seconds. then turned on an it was all fine (so lucky as backed up allrecent coursework)however as soon as it went to sleep it would not awake
1. can anyone help 2. related to the patch? just my laptop as running fine an tht was the only thing i dl yday?
cheers

I had the same symptoms a few weeks ago, and it was a dead motherboard.

A quick google yielded this:
"The nVidia models also have a problem with the VRAM coming loose from the board and causing a POST beep (one long, two short). since the both the intel and nVidia video is integrated into the board, the motherboard again has to be replaced."

- it was in one of the comments at the end
Now I wouldn't like to say for certain that this is your problem but it does seem quite likely, but in any case it won't be caused by any eve update.

funny thing is the thermal cycling the old client used to put some computers through was actually harmful :D -------------------------------------------- Threads are stacking-nerfed; the more posts you add the less effective those posts are. My I/Q Ration!!!11 |
