The Trinity 1.0.3 patch has been deployed and Tranquility has returned to service. If you have an issue after the deployment, please check the Known Issues page to see if the Dev Team is already aware of it and submit a bug report.
The Trinity 1.0.3 patch was deployed to fix an issue with Incompatible (Protocol) issue caused by the Trinity 1.0.2 patch in combination with a patch in january. Patch notes are available.
Please keep feedback constructive and on-topic. Negative, spam or posts not directly related to the patch deployment, bugs or issues will be deleted.
The Dev Team will be monitoring this thread throughout the next few days to keep abreast of the patch deployment and status.

Cool, but why doesn't the forum index update with the latest poster in 'EVE Information Portal' At the moment it shows only '2008.02.19 19:25:00 by: CCP Wrangler'
This was the case too for the last few dev blogs and the quarterly econ blog.
Just curious.

The patch was downloaded but it failed verification indicating that the file is corrupt. Would you like to download the file again?
You will not be able to enter the game until you download the patch.
Anyone have any ideas why?

I was also getting Incompatable Protocol no matter what I did.
I use WinXP 64 bit, and the directions to remove the cache didn't help me find them. The only CCP folder I could find was the install folder, and I had still been getting Incompatable Protocol.
What I did to get to where it is now (not accepting connections, 6 players connected) is to *completely uninstall* then reinstall. However, I now see (as I watched the directories go by on the uninstall) that the directions from CCP don't apply to my OS.
If you can't find the folder they're having you look for, try this string instead:
%USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\CCP
Then delete (or just move) the EVE folder.
I tried it and it worked for me.

I had to use my old fix (the one I used yesterday) again to gain entry in to the game.
Im running XP with SP2 and had to copy the compile.code from the /script folder to a cache directory located under all users (so not the cache directory where eve caches the igb, maps etc)

Edited by: Sibylla Benedicte on 20/02/2008 14:21:07 I have one BIG problem after 1.0.3. At start a window pops up and asks me to download the patch. I do just that and at the end of the download a new window pops up telling me that "the download couldn't be verified" (or something similar). I then get the option to download it again, which I do, with the same result. The process continues indefinitely. How can it fail to verify itself?

I have installed 1.0.3 patch and i can login now but at character selection screen it stucks at half way loading on all my three accounts running on Vista Premium 32 bit. So now that the logon issue has been fixed, can you guys deploy a 1.0.4 patch to get me past character selection so i can actually play the game One week free game time would be much appreciated for all the trouble CCP caused me in the last two days.

The linux client is not patching correctly. When I launch the game, I am told that there is an update and that a patch is available for download. I download the 3529k patch, and then the patching app starts. The patch always fails with the following message:
Patching Error in file . An unknown error has occured. Please try to install this patch again.
If this error persists you might want to try reinstalling the game. Error = error ept0029.
Is this something on my end? Or is the Linux patch not working?

I'm running Windows XP SP2 and had to delete the Eve folder yesterday to overcome the patch problem. Today's patch failed with 'Patching error in bulkdata\c4ce.cache' followed by 'Unknown error' and 'error=ept0018'.
However - I seem to be able to log in OK. CCP! Is it safe to play Eve with this error?

The lag sucks, and I play on Classic Eve until I can find the scratch to upgrade my PC an go to premium.
The patch snafus are an unfortunate by-product of bringing a state-of-the-art game to the unwashed masses, most (like me) who know enough about computers to be dangerous but not enough to appreciate the complexities involved.
I get very annoyed at times but will I quit? Not on your life! EVE is the best thing that has happened to me in a long time, the challenge and allure are just what I need to fill in the times between interacting and working in the real world.
When television and movies are as fun as EVE, then I may start watching them with some interest. But for now, the best bang for the buck is New Eden.
I just hope that a concerted effort is being made to smooth out the game performance to get to the level it was before the Trinity expansion.

Just like to chime in that, while I was not subject to the problems that led to yesterday's patch, I have been able to just fire up the eve client, patch, and jump right in.
If it helps I run XP on a thinkpad T60, so that's one type of computer for which everything works just fine.

I started the client, it informed me that i needed to install the new patch. Cliked ok, patcher ran, finished, and I clicked ok to restart the client. The little EVE window poped up, stayed up for longer than usual, then dissapered. Does this everytime, and the login screen never shows. Soooo Whats up??? Can anyone help me here? I tried restarting, results are the same. Please dont tell me I have to completely reinstall the client. That takes funukin forever! the only thing i havent tinkered with yet is my firewall, but that shouldnt be a problem as Norton allready has "rules" for the eve client and should automatically let it connect. Ill check on that and report back.

It installed perfectly for me.
Best thing is to have 2 clients installed on 2 different partitions. One with the classic content and one with the premium one.
It seems that the premium one always fails, so if you encounter any problems patch the classic one 1st (it should work all the time) after that the premium one to overcome other issues.
1.02 killed my premium install, so i just copied the stuff that i needed from the classic one, worked perfectly.
To gain access to the application data folders you need to have hidden files to show.
Go to control pannel (select classic view) then to folder options then select show hidden and system files. (same stuff for xp and vista)
XP: like the GM said, documents and settings/username/Application Data/CCP/EVE VIsta: open my computer/users/your user/Local/App Data/CCP/EVE
The above ones are for the delliting stuff; BUT : Make sure you back up the folder somewhere to put back the trusted sites/overview and other stuff that you had saved. Basically it should be only "Browser" and "Settings". Those folders keep you trusted sites and overview.
If you have a firewall, make sure eve has permisions after you update it. Sometimes software tends to deny your stuff if it suffers any kind of chages/updates.
I hope this info helps you people. ----
I hope ccp will do something about these issues. I know the QA lead, but from mobile to PC, MMO testing .. it a long and different way :P

I just reinstalled the whole stuff from DVD that came with E-on magazine. It downloaded a 10 MB patch and restarted the game. Same problems as before on my desktop and laptop. The game hangs on character selection screen. Ctrl+alt+del are the only things that work. I had no problems whatsoever before patch .2 and .3 and now i can't even play anymore. This is getting really annoying. Hopefully there will be a fix soon because my three accounts are worthless right now.
Good tip for people who's clients crash too on login and char selection: dont bother to download the full client and reinstalling it. You will waste more than 1 GB of download doing so...

The only thing that would state the server unknown status would be your network status. I mean a firewall might block your client. Check your firewall or default windows firewall.
If you on vista, try to run the game with admin privilages..
What windows do you have, and do you have multiple partitions?
If by any chance you have dual boot, try installing the game on the other windows.

You know whats funny about all this.
1.02 was to fix an error "some people where having", (I knew no one with an error). When they deployed it, it made the error they were trying to fix, pop up for everyone. .. Ok They deploy 1.03 to fix there 1.02 that was going to fix this unknown error some people where having (more like 2 kids send it petitions saying they had an error or something)..
How well, 1/2 the people are getting errors from there 1.03 patch.. I small 1.04 tomorrow to fix something else and to break something else.
CCP you just want me to uninstall windows or something before one of your patchs does it for me?
Come on, I have two computers, just alike, down to the mouse used on it.
Same install, same patchs, same everythings, same settings.
1.03 work on one, and on the other broke 1/2 way through it.
Fix your game people. Its not hard to make a install, want me to fly down there to show you I make about 4 of them a day at work.. It really isn't that hard. Webhosting, teamspeak and Killboard for you, your corp, and your Alliance Click me for more info |

Patch feedback:
Linux official client= no issues on ubuntu 7.10
wine .9.55 1.02 > 1.03 = no issues ubuntu 7.10 running premium gfx.
wine .9.55 1.01 > 1.03 = n issues ubuntu 7.10 running premium gfx.
I will add here that I have never seen the incompatible protocol problem on these clients, nor did I have to do any of the suggested fixes for said issue.

Umm, no. First, the 1.0.2 fix was completely unrelated to the incompatible protocol bug. Second, the incompatible protocol bug only affected those who installed that patch in January that was later pulled. AFAIR the time window between seeding that patch and pulling it was like a few hours, so if you were unlucky enough to connect in that timeframe back in January you got the incompatible protocol after patching.
I had 2 installs, one of which was patched in Jan and affected, the other was not and worked well with 1.0.2 and 1.0.3 ù so the problem clearly didn't affect "everyone". --

I don't know now if this also the side effect of this last patch, but my EVE got a lot faster and quieter after this last 2 days patching. for weeks now EVE was quite hardcore stressing my harddrives (you know this annoying harddrive insane seeking/swapping noise when the disk is really fragmented) and now today after patching the computer was SILENT and smooth when starting EVE. not sure if you fixed this log-in issue, but at least you fixed SOMETHING (as unintentional side-effect?) that really bothered me for weeks now.

One wonders what the actual purpose of the, you know, TEST SERVER might be, given this kind of nonsensical patch mayhem.

Don't know if this is a knew thing or not, but I noticed it today when trying to snap a shot for a bug report, but print-screen doesn't capture and dump a screenshot for me unless the client is full screen. I usually run windowed since I have dual displays, and I distinctly remember being able to snap shots in windowed mode.

I'm getting random disconnections with TQ after 1.0.3 and it's getting to the point where it starts to affect gameplay. Right now, I'm just monitoring to see if this issue persists for the next 48 hrs.
I'm aware of the other threads that suggest forwarding port 26000 as a possible solution, but my argument would be that it HAD worked flawlessly before. My own ISP issues? Plausible but what are the chances?? My own PC firewall issue? I don't use any firewall programs (inc Windows firewall), not necessary. The network's on NAT.
Anyone else here facing similar issues?
P.S If I have to touch my router - patch 1.0.3 = another EPIC fail from CCP

I would like the Devs to tell us when a patch is going to wipe out all our damn settings before we patch the client!
A little blurb - please backup the 'bookmarks folder so you don't have to spend 30 minutes recreating all your folders and moving your hundreds of bookmarks around" folder and the Overview setting folder! How about that? Huh? HUH?

OK, my ship is out in Drone space and I get booted from Eve Trinity. When I try to log back in I get this message: Could not connect to the specified address. Odds are that you have not established an internet connection, the server isn't running, or the server address or port number was wrong.
.....Which is funny cuz I was logged in for some time.
So tell me what do I do now? My Thrasher is out there with those nasty drones.....

And boom, right in the middle of a mission, Tranquility is gone again, so my storyline mission is going to be messed up because I can't connect...heck I can't even tracert to the server.
I think I'll wait on that full-year subscription I was planning.

I've been having problems connecting this evening as well. The one time I did get in, it disconnected after 45 minutes. Now, it just hangs at "checking status".
Also, the active chat window still screws up when you switch between full screen mode and windows mode.
Running Windows XP Pro, SP2. Classic version.

seems that we have 2 new issues with the 1.03 patch :
1) The loading time of Eve (just after you type in your username & pass) is back to what it was before 1.02. So long.
2) New loss of connection during the game, that has never appeared before.
May i had the new Server Status unknown since approx 05:00 AM GMT .
Using Win Xp SP2 uptodate, ATI Radeon X1950 PRo 512mb w/ lastest official drivers.

OK I have an internet connection and the server address/port number were fine a few minutes ago... so what's wrong with the server got kicked out without warning just when I was about to complet my skill training.
It's late and I should go to bed but I don't want to wast any training time because you don't give any even if we lose some because of your actions
So when will you include a training queue...?

Well, it looks like what WAS broken for many is still broken for a few. The fix that was supposed to fix, but broke stuff, has not been fixed. And finally, the fix to fix the fix that broke stuff broke more stuff.
*Sigh*
Back to another MMO until CCP gets their schyte together, if ever.
Damn it would be nice to only have to pay ONE MMO company, instead of paying a SECOND MMO company to cover all of CCP's "unscheduled Down Time."
Maybe all of these massive displays of Neolithic Incompetence in patch deployment are TELLING me that I SHOULD be paying only one MMO company. And the one that I should be paying is the one that gets its patchs right the first time. ALL the time. EVERY time.
Just saying.

I fix the patch 1.0.2 issue, 1.0.3 comes along, I log in all happy that there were no surprises, but my happiness was somewhat diminished when I saw that all my local settings have been cleared. The moral is that it's never a good idea to be too optimistic... and that CCP patches are on the suck side

For weeks, ever since trinity really eve has been taking forever and ever to log in. When 1.02 was released(and after i fixed it with the application data thing) eve started to insta-log, at least 20 times faster than normal. Next day its back to how it was before or maybe even worse.
Please these login times are killing me =/ I am not the only one, multiple people in this thread have mentioned it. I have talked to people in game who also reported same thing as me. Fast in 1.02 slow again in 1.03.
Originally by: Doc Hannibal Sh*t what's going on??? yesterday with patch 1.0.2 everything worked fine for me i loged in 10sec, market data was loading fast and i could load other people's portraits in a sec, now its all like it was before 1.0.2 patch!

Originally by: tai shang I started the client, it informed me that i needed to install the new patch.

Sometimes I can log in after about 5 minutes, sometimes it just hangs, others it says timed out securely connecting. So if by some freak chance I can now use one of my accounts I will disconnect randomly, could be jumping at gate or any session change, all fighting is out of the question because of horrendous lag, I cannot even see ships at a gate for maybe a minute. But the best one is my ship warping when I do finally manage to jump through a gate, wtf is that about!! I cannot even carebear ffs. Please fix..I have 6 chars , I have missed lots of skill changes and you know that can cause mental angst when your at work all day knowing you don't have a skill on the go!

I've been losing connection more and more frequently since last week, too.
There's no pattern to it. I can have 2 clients running and have 1 of them performing the way that EVE used to - pretty nicely - and at the same time, on the same PC and (obviously) the same Internet connection, the other client might be laggy as hell and losing connection every 5-10 mins.
I logged in twice earlier on today, and lost connection inside 5 minutes both times, so I decided to download and reinstall the client, with the result that I've now spent the last 3 hours trying to get it started. It's just not getting past the "acquiring bulk data" stage, and it keeps losing connection before I even get to the character select screen.
I know that there's nothing wrong with the PC or with my Internet connection and, judging from this thread and comments on other forums, it appears that a lot of other people are having similar problems. Since this is a feedback thread, any chance of some feedback on our feedback? |

Then it came up with the message that it could not find the exstenstion.dll and i needed to re download eve! ----------------------------------------------
