Hello every one, this Threat is created to discuss about the GoonSwarm Alliance. I'm writing my own thoughts regarding this community as an alliance.
For me, GoonSwarm (GS from now) is totally an union of, mostly, noobish players. Ofc, there might be some not bad, or even ubber players in this alliance, but as I wrote, mostly noobish players. If any of you take a moment to research in various Kill boards, you will see that mostly Goons players fit t1 or some "crappy" tech 1 fittings, for me, this means:
1/ Noobish players - lack of skill points and cannot use T2 or advanced mods in fleet combats. 2/ Noobish leaders - can consider this as their tactics, Noobish leader sends noobish players, mostly t1 fitted with standard ships (e.g tech 1 ships) to the field.
PROS ====
- They create of a feeling that they have a HUGE fleet (yeah in fact they have a really HUGE fleet, but a HUGE Noobish Fleet) OMG Huge incoming GS fleet!
- Save money, the only thing you pay for is the ship insurance, since the mods are so dirt cheap that you can find from the loot cans, dropped by hunting in the roid belts.
- LAG for the enemy.
CONS ====
- Easy targets, almost free kills for the enemy, even with 2 GS vs 1 enemy, they still lose due to Noobish battle leadership, lack of skill points, lack of output damage.
- With every ship lost (or even pod lost), you will have to invest some time to get back to the field.
- LAG for yourself and for the allies!
I have looked through some of the threats in here and I saw this one from a Goon member:
Quote: Goons goal is to kick BoB in the Bum.
Nice, what can GS do as an independent alliance? What have you showed to the community to gain respect? Imho nothing, just nothing. You are so proud that your are number 1 on the alliance top ranking that is based on member counts, outposts etc?
What can GS acquire without its allies? I think - nothing much. All you have showed to the community is the ability to NAP to the neighbor alliances, I don't know how they accepted your request, to accept a weak alliance to the coalition is to make yourself weaker, lol, may be you do pay some billions of iskies monthly to be in their Blue list? j/k lol.
The second best ability is how ubber you can flaim, spam and troll this forum, oh yeah, thanks God only a part of GS post in here, else this forum would be down by data base down due to heavy GS spams. You think you look cool by doing all this crap on the forum? lol, it only makes you look awful and even more noobish. I noticed some of your blue list AAA guys told you already to stop the spamming.
Oh professional Goonies, pro GS that drops t1 fittings? Imho all big and respected alliance once (or more) do lost their Super Cap ships. Did you? nope, the largest shippie that you guys lost is a carrier or so, coz you do not have balls to send a Super cap to the field, you just build it to show how cool you are? Funny.
I always wonder why your neighbours ain't kill you yet, maybe they use you as meat shields at the very moment?
Anyways these all are only my suggestions, so maybe some one has their own thoughts, please don't deny to share with us.
You guys could have been become a powerful and respected alliance, but ...
I will not surprise if this threat gets spammed by GS members.
Hey GS chicks, maybe stop the trolling and show what your guns can do?

If you open a thread to discuss about goon, isn't a proof that goon is something else than a noobish ally ?
As a TCF and old member of goon, I can say goon is something realy strong, in quality and quantity.

Yeah, so, you're either a Goon-alt trying to poast something that Goons will turn around and poast on their forums to motivate themselves, or you're just dumb.
Goons were nubs in 2006. Now they can fly capital ships and tech2 BSes and everything. The average GoonFleet member tends to be a bit on the poor side, but that's because they've never really had long period of time without a war to get fat. As a result, they don't have 8 million alts that they pay for GTCs.
Average Goons we're seeing are probably in the 15 mil SP range. Plenty out there with 20-30 (which is about where accounts start to become stone-cold killers if they were trained decently). The only problem with GS right now is the leadership. Suas rocks hard, but after that the cupboard starts to become pretty bare in terms of top-flight FCs. Most Goons don't know that's the case so it doesn't matter to them in terms of morale, but the best FCs leading Goons lately are Razor and Snigg.
The current problem in GS economically is their average membership has gotten to a point with their skill set where they want to buy nice things, but they don't get a chance to make enough isk to afford skills and ships/kit to lose in battle.
Goon leadership hasn't quite caught on to this one. So, they've underestimated the losses the rank-and-file membership took in QY6 and have pushed the Alliance into another meat-grinder (NOL) too quickly. So they aren't getting the participation they need, the result is a vicious circle of people not showing up because they don't have the equipment to show up, and therefore people not showing up (or leaving) because there isn't enough people to do anything.
After four straight nights of sitting at a POS not doing anything in primetime listen to the FCs sayng, "sorry guys we'll do something if we magically get numbers", people are saying, "screw this I'm going to go *** it up like the 400-450 other people in alliance chat who haven't shown up for this Op." Currently Goons are running around saying, "if people just showed up we'd win, so show up", but they're completely out of touch with the reality that people don't show up for good reasons.
To reinforce this point, the first couple of days we saw Goons showing up in Battleships to NOL. Now they're showing up in tech1 cruisers and frigates. These aren't the nubs. These are the frontline combat guys who have been slugging it out for weeks in Delve. At best you can say their logistics lines are stretched too thin, but QY6 is 7 jumps from NOL and is rarely camped.
Goons are a decent alliance (yes, I said it). Their real strength is in their Coalition giving them three-shift coverage. The only problem they have right now is the leadership is out of touch with the rank-and-file membership and are pushing the war too much at the moment. Most of the coalition have f'd off to rebuild stock and stores. Goon should be doing the same instead of pushing a poorly timed offensive. Then again, the NOL Op smells like a morale-op aimed at refocusing flagging coalition support, so maybe they had to push it.
(Take that you "zomg they're all 1337ist bastards" bastards)
edit: before long some Goon is going to come along and play Baghdad-Bob about the participation issue. The reason is if they acknowledge flagging participation it will deepen the participation problem. Catch-22. And one of the reasons they're getting screwed. They refuse to address the problems, knowing it will make the problems worse at a time when they need everything ticking over perfectly to finish off BoB.

Truly excellent post. Reminds me a lot of the propaganda during the ASCN war but better. I haven't seen such qualilty in a long time. If only you would start signing your posts too. Although to your credit this is more a Blacklight-esque post than DB Preacher. I was marvelling at your very similar post in SHC earlier but this one is above par even compared to that one. If I had a hat, it would be off to you.

I'm seeing this line pop up all over the place. (Not that I have any idea about its veracity, I have no clue and I am a complete non-participant). Is there a counter-meme that this may be a rope-a-dope?

Honestly, I thought the first Baghdad-Bob poast would be about participation, but you went for the "bah, just propaganda" gambit instead. Which makes sense given the consequences of even talking about participation.
Hopefully Suas can whip together another 300 man fleet today and it will engage this time instead of dissipating into thin air the moment it gets time to align.

Dude, you're f'ing awesome. Seriously. As far as I'm concerned, you're the kinda dude this game desperately needs. The big alliances need big personalities that rally people together. I'm not saying this as a BoB or Goon, but as just a fan of the game.
You're like Dianbolic's evil twin. Totally different personalities (that perfectly fit and reflect their respective alliances), but both big-time leaders. I'd love to see you and Dian go head to head leading your respective fleets again sometime soon.
(I was going to compare you to Molle, but, frankly, nobody's in Molle's league; he's just straight up brilliant) --- "LOG OFF, LOG OFF, EVERYONE LOG THE F--- OFF NOW" - Suas, GoonSwarm Fleet Commander Sunday January 27, 2008 during a fleet fight with BoB in system QY6-RK, approximately 21:55 EVT |
