Originally by: Katana Seiko I have a new sound equipment (7.1 surround), and first thing I did was enabling sound in EVE again. However, when I turned off music, I heard a low sound, like blowing wind - and it came from EVE! Now, I was floating in space - but there is no wind in space...
Can someone tell me what the intention of that was?
Same reason they have a limit on the speed you can go. Same reason There are tons of other ******** crap going on in this game cause its a game.
Seriously. What are you guys expecting? Realistic microwarp drives? Gimme a break. It's a game. Chillax.

FYI,
1) there is wind in space - ever heard of the solar wind? It travels out at about 400km/s past the earth all the time, and is highly supersonic. Clusters of stars and even some entire galaxies (like M82) produce much more powerful winds on vast scales.
2) there are sound waves in space (albeit not that loud always). The typical density of interstellar space in the disk of our galaxy is about 1 hydrogen atom per cubic centimeter. The temperature in a typical ionised nebula is about 10000 K, and the sound speed there is about 10 km/s.
In a dark cloud at between 10-100K , with densities up to 10^6 atoms/cm^3 the sound speed can be less than 1 km/s.
In the multi-million Kelvin plasma of supernova remnants the sound speed can be 100s of km/s.

We're playing submarines in oil!
We know that for long, and it's not an issue for me, it's how CCP defined the gameplay. -- Pocket drone carriers (tm) enthousiast !

Originally by: Tyria Sharken And for those thinking about space/distance/time.. (as in if i flew 4 LY's away i'd be in a different 'time' than you) Thats a bunch of bull.. 'time' is nothing more than a measurement made up to keep track of the riseing and falling of the sun on earth. When your in space, time only has as mutch meaning as you give it. If i have a watch on, warp 3ly's away, and look down at teh watch, the only 'time' that'll have passed is however long it took me to travle that distance. The only thing that'll give the 'illusion' that im in a different time than you is how long it takes for the 'light' of my actions to reach your eyes. But if i keep to the same schedule that my watch says, we'll be doing things at teh same 'time' Just at a realy great distance away.
What you just said is that Einstein's theory of relativity, which no-one has been able to disprove for decades, is a bunch of bull.
Away from theory, time goes slower if you go faster and time goes faster if you get farther from mass/gravity. The atomic clocks in GPS satelites tick 7 microseconds slower due to their speed and 45 microseconds faster due to their distance from earth. On balance, they tick 38 microseconds faster. If this was not corrected, the location it gives you would be off by 10km per day, after a year, it would tell you you're on a different continent.
This isn't theory, this is an observation of the effects of speed and gravity on the 4th dimension, time.
