Most likely because your friend had bought ISK, or you compensated your friend with out of game currencies.

Did your friend buy ISK?
Most likely he did. Any ISK acquired in such a manner is removed from the game. --------

Was it really a donation from a friend, or have you been buying ISK illegaly?

I think EVE needs yet another Motto: "Don't trust ANYONE. Even when they're throwing tons of ISK at you."

Better ask your friend how he got that ISK.
CONCORD provide consequences, not safety; only you can do that. |

Edited by: Vikarion on 22/02/2008 00:32:37 Sounds like he tried to help you out with tainted ISK. Shame on him.
If your account is in the negatives, simply re-roll your character. Check out what you'd like to be, and arrange your attributes accordingly. This might actually be a good thing.
If your account isn't in the negatives, start earning money the way you are supposed to. It seems onerous (hard) at first, but it is immensely satisfying when you buy your first battleship or barge.
Or, if you simply must have instant gratification, go sell a couple GTCs. But that's just robbing yourself of a lot of fun.
EDIT: Ah, I see you are already selling GTCs. --------

Check to see if your "friend" is still able to play using the character he sent you ISK from.
If you "friend" is no longer able to play because he was busted for EULA violation, there in rests your answer.
If your friend is still playing, then ask the GM why the transaction was voided.

Your "friend" bought ISK, most likely. That's just sad of him, in that there's a EULA-legal way to convert cash to ISK through GTC sales. It's too bad your "friend" shafted you with it, but 390M isn't too deep a hole to dig yourself out of. It will just suck for a while. I'd suggest starting an alt and joining a good corp. I can recommend E-UNI, of course - it might help you avoid making basic mistakes like accepting bought ISK.

Not to stop the 'your friend bought isk parade' but lets assume for a moment that both parties are innocent.
Up and sending 390 million isk to a new character not connected to your account who is about ~ 3 months old could look like washing the isk to make it sellable, or it looks like someone may have bought isk. It could have been reversed for that reason.
However assuming its two different parties, and it wasn't sent simply to 'wash' it. There is no reason to strip the money from Halson even if it was sold isk anyway. If I bought isk, used it to purchase ~1 bil on the market, and then sold all of the items. Are the GMs going to reverse every single transaction? Not a chance in hell. If I bought a ship and gave it to someone is the GM going to dock that person market price for the ship? Not a chance. If I buy 1 billion isk, and gave 300 mil to a mate to help him because he just lost his three ratting ships are the GMs going to dock him the isk? Yes? Well why?
Unless the GMs have reason to believe Halson is just another alt of the guy who bought isk I do not see any reason for why they should have docked him the money. And if they do believe he is simply an alt and he can prove that he's not they should reset his balance to at least the 5,000 isk starting inheritance. ____

If the transaction was illegal, the account sending the ISK should have been banned, as there should be no second chances for ISK laundering.
If your friends account was not banned completely for laundering ISK, the ISK should have been deducted from his account not yours.
The ISK should be removed from the first "real" account that it is transfered to.

Sounds Familiar
Seriously, CCP do not remove isk for no good reason.
Maybe you're completely unaware, maybe your friend is lying to you, maybe your friend is unaware and acquired the isk from someone who lied to them about it's source. Regardless, it's justified. I suggest you read that thread before trying to say it's not.

In your situation with a negative account the only way to raise it is to mission or kill 0.0 rats I believe. You can't pay any of the market transaction fees.
Or buy some GTCs and sell those. I think you can do that with no transaction fee. If it requires a transaction fee, designate the GTCs to a noob-alt who has a positive balance and then send the isk to your main to correct the account balance issue.
If you really have no connection to the isk laundering, file a petition pleading your case as ignorant to the whole thing and pray they set your balance to 0.

Edited by: xXxAgent OrangexXx on 22/02/2008 04:58:47 How about just sell all the stuff you bought with the ISK. That should get you somewhere back to where you was.
Edited because I forgot about transaction fees. Create a new alt and send him all your assets. then sell it Thats if you value your character to begin with or you could just keep your assets with a 5k balance.

Don't know about being in the negatives, but if you have any cash flow at all, through missions and ratting, just train up to salvage 1.
I've only been playing this game a week or so and I can pull down 10 mil isk a play session just running missions in high sec space and salvaging my kills.
I run missions in batches of 3 (have 3 mission givers at my current home station) and will often pull anywhere from 750k to 1.5m isk per mission cycle just in salvage.

Why don't you just sell another GTC, looks like you have tons of real life cash to throw away on a game. GM's prob figured you wouldn't even notice.

Actually if he makes an alt to trade for the negative balanced char, it could be done for regular money raising too. That first char now probably has some great mining or missioning equipment so should be able to get lots of goodies and salvage in. Just transfer that to your alt using a GSC deployed by your alt at a safespot(can't contract it across because of the negative balance, can't buy the GSC with your main for the same reason). Have your alt sell the stuff trough the market, and then transfer the isk back trough people and places. If your main needs ammo, have your alt buy it and contract it across. |
