I'm a crap pilot and i know it; I'm having severe trouble taking down Gurista Inferno's in agent missions with my moa...
Can anyone suggest a decent setup, and some tactics to boot?
Getting sick of taking 200k damage from a single 85k rat.

Get a thermal hardener, perhaps use 2 of them, as inferos tend to use thermal cruise missiles, I do believe.. also get a medium shield booster, I don't know what kind of guns you use, but I would use 250mm railguns with ranged ammo (but always carry antimatter if they MWD up to you), that would keep you out of the range of his guns. Letting off some missiles at it might not be a horrible idea either, if your guns aren't doing the job, just make sure you don't blow up the cargo can (so dont fire missiles when it's near dead). =/
The cataclysm cruise missiles are probably what is causing the bulk of the damage, cruisers don't hold up well to cruise missiles from NPCs. ------

What Jim said. Also leave the MWD at home if using one, if your going to soak damage you'll need the shield/cap. Thunderbolt/paradise + havoc/devastator or widowmaker/cataclysm as msl supplements.

i find with hybrids u have to have like every ammo in your hold and all your optimals wrote down to be effective, wth multiple targets your a good pilot if you manage to effectivly use your weapons well. "Teh lord of Nonni"

nah just use thorium, iridium, and antimatter, that pretty much covers your bases.
in the heat of battle you really don't have the luxury of time to switch to the perfect ammo anyways ------

True,i personally use uranium and iridium since they provide a good overall range/damage.

Infernos have no guns, just Cataclysm cruise missiles.
I used 4x 250mm rails + antimatter, and 2 small smartbombs.
Mid slots were 10mn AB, med. shield booster, thermal hardener. A 2nd one wouldn't hurt-- I probably had a sensor booster to decrease lock time. Damage mod in low slot, and probably a cap relay or two. Use 'em while you can. :)
Warp in as close to your optimal as possible, and fire away.
At a 30k range, I could take out about 2/3 of his cruise missiles with the smartbombs. With practice, I could theoretically take out all of them.

You could run 2x thermal hardeners all day long. By knowing that Infernos only deal thermal damage that helps a lot.
Here's what I would run, specifically against the Infernos:
4x 250mm rail 2x Heavy launchers with Cats
2x Thermal Hardener 1x Medium CL5 1x Named cap recharger
For low run whatever CPU/PG/cap mods you need plus damage modifiers for your rails.
That setup should work well against Infernos. But I'm guessing maybe you don't have the skills for all that so if your skills are lower level then try this:
4x 250mm rail 2x Standard launchers with Wids
3x Static Thermals 1x Medium CL5
For low run whatever CPU/PG/cap mods you need plus damage modifiers for your rails.
