Edited by: Cobra Ball on 22/02/2008 19:08:05 Hey all,
I am just getting into exploring and have a question that the more experienced can answer. I have found that at times when i find a signal using my multispec probe and start scanning with the more accurate probes that the signature (and complex) disappears.
So my question to you is: how often do you go back to your multispectral probes to check that the base signal is still there? I find that after i go through an hours worth of scanning with quests, I like to shoot out a multi and make sure the signal is still there.

Someone else scanning down the site before you do does not cause it to disappear....

Edited by: Cobra Ball on 22/02/2008 19:07:23 Does it disappear on the scan if they actually enter the site?

If this happened to me a lot, the first thing I'd do is check my Quest placement. Unless I knew that there were other people Exploring at the same time. If so, then I'd drop a multi after the quests expire, and I'd also be keeping an eye out for an obvious site cleaning ship, the approximate locations of other people's close range probes, and maybe a lucky glimpse of the competing prober.

After you burn through an entire set of quests is the right time.

A site will also disapear if any of the cans have been accessed and the site left without a person inside it. for example if you start hacking then have to warp out because of rats, it will disapear unless you have an alt or a friend sitting in the site.
Also, I do it every hour (when my set of quests runs out).

Edited by: Commander OTG on 26/02/2008 04:48:01 . . Only once have I fired off a second Multi to recheck the system. I would say that I am more likely to find multiple sites rather then the site disappear.
The poster above stated that a site will disappear if you acces a can but warp out of the site...this is false. I do this regularly. I often go in with my covert ops which cannot tank the rats...i will hit a can until i absolutely have to warp out....rinse and repeat...it has never disappeared on me before.

I just tested the theory. I located a site....warped in and hacked a can. I then left the entire system and returned to my bookmark...site is still there.
I am wondering if you found a site that was previously discovered and the timer happened to run out or something. It makes no sense that it would disappear before all cans are accessed, or at least before downtime.
