It begins loading, and appeaqrs un the task bar, when I maximise it, it appears to "swoop" up onto the desktop, but isnt there.
I have tried deleting cache etc...
Any ideas??

hit alt-enter, i had the same problem, it came right after that, and yes you can put it back to windowed :) _____________________________

Did you run dual screen then get rid of the 2nd screen?

I have been having this problem as well, here is what I have found...
Using alt+enter while the buggy client has focus will cause the client to go full screen and then act normally, as was mentioned by others.
In addition I have fount that setting color depth greater than 16 bits eliminates the problem entirely. This problem seems to be tied somehow to the color depth setting.
Hope this helps to eventually solve this issue.
