When whining about lag, please mention if you are in Jita. It lets people know what to flame you for

Follow the three simple rules, and you'll almost never get lag: 1. Stay out of Jita 2. Stay at least 3 jumps away from Saila 3. Stay away from fleet fights with more than 100 people
Voila!

You don't have to be in system with them to lag, you can lag 4 regions away.

I have a few words.
Upgrade your PC.
I dont know what everyone *****es about. I mean, yes it gets a bit laggy and just the other day when we were in a fight, I had 3 pilots drop out of the fight due to lag issues when I had no sign of it at all. Seriously guys, STFU or GTFO of Eve.

Yeah, that scenario is why I said ALMOST never Usually though, for a lot of the big fights CCP know it in advance and has reinforced the node for it, thus not affecting others.

Lies. CCP doesn't know **** tbh. When a 90 man bruce gang comes and visits us, ccp will never know till after the fight. 170 ppl all on the same grid in a system within 10k of eachother, drones out, guns blazing cannot be predicted by the best ccp weatherman.

So? That's just one of the ones they don't know about..... However, when a system is being sieged, you come to the real fight (ie. when POS comes out of reinforced) and expect a big clash, you can petition CCP (well in advance of the previous downtime) to 'reinforce' the system. CCP might then (if possible) put that system on its own node, and lag from the battle will be as minimal as possible (but might still be horrible during the fight), and will not affect others.
If you don't want that type of lag? Stay out of those fights....

Last night we had 34 people in local in Oddelulf. We were undocking 2 carriers to rep up our comrade and after locking him, I received the "an attempt is underway to activate the module" for approx 30 seconds. 34 people in a lowsec system nowhere near any major fleet action. The state of the game is a joke.

Sorry. Didn't know that... Has that been announced anywhere, or just as response to petitions????

Edited by: Jhagiti Tyran on 23/02/2008 20:15:50 There is lag but there is nothing we can do about it, you either have to tolerate it or play something else at peak times. Bad hardware and connection aggravate it but I have a modern and recently built system and 20MB connection I also live less than a hundred miles away from London where the data center is and at peak times EVE still lags even when I'm nowhere near Jita/Motsu/Salia.

There's lag and there's lag.....
1-10 second lag is mainly annoying.... It can be dangerous in 0.0, but not in high-sec missions. Can happen everywhere.
10-60 second lag starts getting dangerous... In 0.0 you'll almost certainly be dead if jumping into hostiles, in high-sec missions it'll be dangerous unless you tank well. Mostly happens in 0.0 or maybe around Saila/Jita.
1-30 minute lag is bad! If someone shoots at you, you'll almost certainly die (unless you're in a capital). This almost exclusively happens in large 0.0 fleet fights (or systems on the same node as one, or of.c. jita).
