I have been doing level II missions for a little while and have just got myself a Raven. With my new ship I can easily do most of these mssions but I was wondering what the best type of shield hardeners are that I should be using for these missions.
Note: I'm already using exstenders and boosters est...
Thanks. |

Well, anyways, different factions deal different damage, listed here:
Quote: Angel: All types, although mostly kinetic and explosive. Amarr Navy: EM and thermal. Ammatar Navy: EM and thermal. Blood: EM and thermal. Caldari Navy: Kinetic and thermal. Centii: EM and thermal. Coreli: Kinetic and thermal. Corpii: EM and thermal. Domination: All types, mostly kinetic and explosive. Gallente Navy: EM and thermal. Gist: All types, mostly kinetic and explosive. Gurista: Kinetic and thermal. Khanid: EM and thermal. Mercenary: All types. Mordus: Kinetic and thermal. Odamian: Kinetic and thermal. Pith: Kinetic and thermal. Rogue drones: All types. Republic fleet: All types, mostly kinetic and explosive. Sansha: EM and thermal. Serpentis: Kinetic and thermal. Zazzmatazz: All types.
Copy it to the notepad or something.

Don't use the Raven for lvl 2 missions, get a Drake instead. The frigates and cruisers you meet in lvl 2 missions is too small for the Ravens battleship-sized weapons to be any effective. But to answer your question about hardeners: use hardeners that fit the pirate faction you are fighting. If their main damadge type is kinetic then use kinetic hardeners.

A Drake? A Caracal is fine for L2 and a fraction of the cost.

"Seems odd"? "Works well"? It's like using a thermonuclear device to kill a few spiders. Can you say overkill?

It depends on whether he's using Cruise/siege launchers or he's got smaller launchers on it, in which case the Raven wouldn't give any bonuses to them.
If he is using Cruise launchers, I'd be surprised if he's making any money as the ammo required to destroy smaller ships probably costs more than the bounty the ship gives.
I'd be surprised if any level 2 mission could break an active tanked Raven's passive regen, but from the sound of things, he's got boosters and extenders fitted, so his support skills are probably sub-par, putting it politely.

I think it's more along the line of using an anti-tank weapon to go rabbit hunting. Big mess when you hit, but you're not going to hit often.

Raven doesn't have any problems running Level 3 so I don't see why anyone would run Level 2 with it.

Full Gist A-type or Pith A-type set with a Dread Invul if it fits. I mean, you are already using a raven so why not fit it well?

this is a helpful guide-
http://eve-survival.org/missions/
personally i think your better off flying a drake to do lvl 1-3 missions as it is designed for the type of npc you find in the missions.

I'm flying a Caracal for level 2 missions. Regardless of whether or not I fit hardeners for the faction I'm fighting in the mission, level 2 are either a yawnfest or instant death (Recon mission, I was taking my time to get to the acellerator, and got jumped by 20 NPCs).
Just go with the post above showing the damage type to harden against, or the other post linking to the mission survival guides. But as I said, in the right ship the level 2s are a yawnfest. I spend more time salvaging than actually killing stuff - and that's with a dedicated salvager, four salvagers and tractors going at once!
If you're flying a Raven, you should be able to passively tank every mission, using short range rockets to kill stuff. Is there really a need to worry about what type of hardeners to fit? Hell, fit lasers have have at it!

A Raven can probably do a Level 2 mission with the following fit:
1 or 2 heavy assault launchers + missiles . (that's a full stop)
Cheers Falka

A Raven with a good tank could do level 2's just using its 5 medium drones. No need to fire a single missile except to draw in agro. In that regard a single heavy launcher is probably best as heavy missiles are still fairly affordable and offer a good range increase over standard missiles.

The eve survival guide link posted above is the best source of info which can be used In-Game from ur browser button... the specific mission will tell u what type of damage is dealt by the rats (so u can then use the proper hardener) and what damage to deal to the rats (so u load the proper missile type)
If I used a Raven for lvl 2 I would not waste my missiles. I would simply let hammerhead II drones take care of everything--lol (actually would not even need T2 usually)

hmmmm, well if he did do his learning skills, and loots/salvages every level 2, i suppose he would have about enough for a raven. although the standings to do level 3/4s

On the cost of raven--he could have gotten lucky belt ratting like I did at one point--remember the harvesters etc that dropped the named mining upgrades that sold for a bundle originally before they were even on the market and before the nerfs...? Even now one can get some good loot which sells well along with T2 salvage from Domination angels etc... I had 800m and never did any mining or mission running--all from ratting/salvaging...

Edited by: Goa Vibe on 26/02/2008 15:46:49 Edited by: Goa Vibe on 26/02/2008 15:45:18 2 heavy missile launchers for aggro drone bay full of drones (no ammo) 3 tractor beams 3 salvagers
I myself am back to lvl2's as of last night [about 5 hops from my 'home'] for gallente, to avoid the low faction standing. running a drake, I fell asleep during a mission, head hit keyboard, and all my enemies exploded.
true story.
recently put some time into my drone skills, so now i can let these buggers do the work for me. I like how they aquire new targets without me having to do anything. I brought a bunch of smartbombs in my hauler, might give that a try too... just have to watch out for nearby beacons or whatever will get concords attention if it gets damaged
