Originally by: Rhaegor Stormborn In an earlier post it was mentioned that we would be using island 43:90 Pereutia for our crystal island, but the island located at 45:91 named Endentia has a much better wonder imo and I suggest we settle there instead. Reduced troop and war machines production costs. I would use that colony for all of my troop production if possible. Anyway, just wanted to suggest it.
That reminds me: if you haven't already read this thread then do so. It lists all the features that seem to be in the game but aren't actually in yet or don't work. For example, none of the temples give blessings, and some of the passive bonuses don't work either. -

I finally got myself an army, and there was a nice level 3 town on my island, had been level 3 for ages so it must have been an inactive character. I sent a spy, they didn't have much but there was some wood and that's always good, so I sent 3 attacks, then I get this message:

While I'm thinking of it, my mate will be founding a colony with us too, will post the name when it's up so you know who not to pwn -

You could try one of the other resources, as we'll be supplying plenty of wine. 45:90 or 46:91 have temples that increase production, so maybe one of them. -

My mate is now starting his colony, he is called Casean and the town will be called Cookie Dough, though I will try to get him to change it to something Eve related or just put "EVE" at the start to help things!
Also, how do we join the alliance? I've sent a message to the alliance through my embassy, is that it? My limited German has let me down... -

I meant the upgrades from the workshop, and just found this in the Ikariam wiki:
"The benefits of the workshop apply reto-actively to all of your existing units, as well as to the units you build from now on. They also apply to all of your colonies, regardless of whether you have a workshop in that colony. Hence, you only need to build and improve one workshop."
That's nice to know! -

Originally by: Aurican Tetro Is there any maximum range of sending out trade fleets? I'm trying to send wine to a friend's colony and the "transport goods" button doesn't even appear.
Most likely answer is either that you don't have any ships free, or your friend doesn't have a port. -

You can't donate diplomatic points to the alliance, so it's very difficult to get lots of people in, just be patient.

Originally by: illusha Whats the point of pillaging when the rate of transfer of the loot depends on what level the port is and most people have lvl 1 ports? It just isn't even fun or profitable especially with all the bugs this game has. Combat really sucks in this game.
I've attacked people with level 5 ports, that is profitable!
On the other hand, I've also had someone destroy their port before my army arrived.
Combat works well if you use a spy (or more, usually) beforehand to know what you're up against, and also to check you have a decent target. Then it's just a case of making sure you totally overwhelm them and have enough ships to take home all the loot! -

Originally by: illusha I think I read somewhere that coordinates are not allowed to be told to other players or posted. I could be wrong though.
That isn't allowed on the Ikariam forums, but it isn't even enforced there. It's basically to stop people using it as a place to find nice targets to attack, when people just try to arrange a trade.
eg: "I've got 10,000 marble, anyone want to come pwn me, sorry, I mean trade with me?"
You are allowed to give coords out, else you wouldn't be able to trade with people other than through the market! Goods for goods trade with friends is a much better way of doing things! - Originally by: Tzar'rim So, the Ibis is now 20% better? Ruuuuuuuuuuuuuuun!!!

Edited by: Kyrall on 27/03/2008 17:00:59 Oh look at that, a big update, when did that hit?!
Premium stuff is now live, and a few other changes have been implemented:
They have changed the town hall interface, you now get more details on happiness, but you can no longer access the island's resources from it.
Colonies can now build a governor's residence, replaces (and if you want to, it upgrades to) the palace and it reduces corruption, which is a new feature. Sounds great!
We now have action points, shown in top left of screen, each town can only perform so many actions per day. This one could suck big time... - Originally by: Miss Anthropy Real life friends are over-rated and real doll's are just sad. Companion cube is by far the best choice.

Originally by: syphurous Is there a way to move troops from one town to another ?
Sort of, and considering that most of the advanced features don't work I wouldn't be surprised if this one didn't.
You can station troops in other towns (requires research, can't remember which) but the troops remain in "attack mode" the whole time they are there, so it would cost a ridiculous amount for anything other than very temporary measures, so it's not worth it.
You cannot permanently move soldiers to another town. - I am Kyrall, combat mathematician. |

It had to happen some day: I've been attacked for the first time! Some guy attacked my newest colony with 70 phalanxes. I only had a couple of buildings, and no barracks so I couldn't send in reinforcements; I just removed the port: Quote: An army from Constantinopole has attacked and pillaged your town Poinen. You were looted:
* Gold: 6904 * Building material: 20 * Wine: 22 * Marble: 6 * Crystal glass: 9

Buy them in your port. They cost a fair bit of gold and it goes up exponentially with each one you buy, but once you can trade for all the resources you need this is the only use for gold other than paying your army's wages. - Originally by: Kyrall Pfft antivirus? Real men use a hard drive tank.
