Consider that you are an Amarr character with only lazer and amarr ship skills... i find it quite disappointing that all threads in reference to the marauders generally regard the paladin as being a worse ship than the other marauders.. this seems to me to be a typical CCP give amarr a half arsed ship situation.
now considering the changes to the apoc are we going to see any changes to the paladin?
I personally think the cap boost given to the apoc would suit the paladin a lot as it would degimpify my setup wen i fit an mwd! i also still finding myself having to add a pg upgrade of some sort if i wish to have a decent number of mods(i.e mwd heavy booster guns 2 reps and a nos or smartie) which for a ship of this calibre should be basic!!!
any response is welcome as to teh future!

I dont know a mission which needs an MWD and why should they give it enough grid/cpu for a pvp fitting if its a pve ship?

I wouldnt take a ship which cost 700 mil isk into pvp, when there is a ship which does the job well enough, and cost only 60.
I would use geddon instead of paladin,

I use paladin for pvp and think its a great ship. It does have a powergrig problem though. If you want alot of tank you have to sacrifice and go with dual heavy pulse instead of mega pulse. If you want alot of damage you can still fit an ok tank on a single rep with some mega pulse and heat sinks with mwd. The cap bonus would be great though because of the lasers which use alot more cap than the blasters on a kronos.

Dont waste time with paladin for pvp. Nightmare = Win.

For pve yes, cause you can't choice your damage type. It's the main problem for all pve amarr ship.
For pvp, i find the paladin very good, he have a lot of powergrid (you can fit 4xdual pulse, 2xheavy neutra, 2xLAR and 1xheavy cap booster), you can fit an ECCM cause he don't really need a MWD. ...

Pvp without MWD = suicide. Unless you are station hugging in a superplated setup killing noobs who dont know how to bump..

Some good points here so far.. what i find intriguing is the fact that some of you are disregarding this ship completely as a pvp vessel!... I agree with the gentleman who stated that beacuse of laser cap usage it should recieve some sort of bonus!.. and in regards to an mwd.. it is not essential to pvp (jus need a good fc scouts and a gang who knows wat their doing) however considereing the high value and the need to get clsoe for max damage and web effectiveness i think an mwd on this ship would be of benefit! been messing with eft and have found that Pg is definitely left wanting unless u want to sacrifice dps for smaller gunz! seeing as no other marauders have to do this i think its us amarr gettin a **** deal again!

4 lasers with normal cap use and double damage == 8 lasers with halved cap use and normal damage.
The paladin has the 50% cap use reduction just by virtue of its 4 guns. __________________________________

4x megapulse t2, 3x TS med neut
core x-type 100mn MWD, TS heavy cap booster, domi web, ECCM
core x-type repper, 2x core A type eanm, DC t2, 3x TS heatsink
ANP t2, nanobot accelerator t2
5x t2 valks
implants: slave set slots 1-5, numon family heirloom, ogdin's eye coordination enhancer, Inherent implants 'Squire' CC8, Pashan's turret customisation mindlink, Pashan's turret handling mindlink
stats: (admittedly with eft max skills but if you are flying this in pvp you should be pretty damn close)
1243 dps, 4493 volley (1097,4199 without implants) 1007 dps tanked, 100k EHP, 13.7k armour on resists of 85/75/75/77 (937,84k,10k without implants) cap stable with booster running when MWD and neuts turned off.
how is that? (yes you need a tackler, but tackler can double as scout solving 2 problems in one :) )

Mr velox nice of you to share your setup... i was lookin at something similiar however havent got the cash for all the core x type stuff... just a question.. is the 3rd heatsink worthwhile? and y not nos' instead of neuts? and do u find it worth while carrying exile boosters? props to those worthy of flying this ship Amarr ftw

MWD on a "capacitor ship" who got already a big ass and a big sig radius is not very good too. Just have a decent scout in your gang ...

MWD is for bailing back to gate and trying to hold out of webrange against megas etc (19km overloaded webrange + that dps at 20-25km ftw)
The neuts are for killing the cap of cruisers/interceptors/plate BS that get under your web (a lot of plate BS use a single med injector which can be overpowered with 3 TS neuts)
Not at home right now but iirc the 3rd heatsink adds about 100 dps, don't really know what you could replace it with, another EANM with the stacking penalty might not be so hot (those 2 corpum eanm give better resists and dps tanked than kin/therm/exp core a-type hardeners, although i didn't overload the hardeners in comparison the em resist was really low (66) when the others were near 80, and with the incoming armour em resist nerf.....) you could add a lowslot radar backup array or something, or a CPR, or something insane like an instab/overdrive.
Also remember to order your highslots gun/neut/gun/neut/gun/neut/gun :) can offline the neuts and overload the guns for rougly 1400dps as far as I remember
