Hey
Im sure that this has been mentioned before, but I cant find any way to search and look *shrugs* so here goes
Is it possible to put a "Jump" option into Jumpgate menus like the "Dock" option on Stations? So that you could select a jumpgate using the Jump option, and you would warp to it, approach and jump automatically when in range?
I cant see why this should not be allowed, and it would simplify short journeys where people dont use the autopilot (or am I the only person who does this?!!!)
Responses?

He means one that functions -identically- to the stations' dock command, which warps you to the station, approaches the station and then docks at the appropriate distance. It'd warp you to the gate, approach the gate and automatically jump.

just set a waypoint to the system on the other side of the jumpgate... it works the same way
I roleplay... there is this computer game called "Earth - The First Genesis" where i play a character in the early 21st century. |

Thats not the point, the point is for it to be similar to the dock option.
And thats something I want, I don't want to have to set a destination to the other side.

No, since Im a good lawabiding citizen (mostly)
Also, it wouldnt help you run from Concord due to the 5 min jumpgate lockout after initiating combat (or has this gone?).
It would just be handy for short runs where I dont set up a destination

I find it astonishing the number of people who feel it's their duty to jump up and down and point and yell at anyone who makes a common sense suggestion.
By that logic, you should have to manually approach the stations, and wait until you're within range to right-click and select dock.
After all, that's how it was in Beta.
Right now, it's "easier" to bring up the map, or assets, and "Set Destination" as the sector next door, then it is to use the sector menu to warp to a gate, then select the gate and approach, then wait until you're 2.5k from the gate to right-click it and select "jump".
That's silly.
It's not going to unbalance the game, it's not because people are pirates and trying to kill you (Remember those gate guns with 150k? Who in their right mind would run INTO them while trying to avoid CONCORD?!?), it's simply a convenience that would make game play a bit less irritating.

100% agreed. Dock and Jump should be consistant, they are essentially identically structured actions. I rarely use manual jumps for short journeys due to the hassle of it all; it shouldn't be like that. Great idea!

bump! I see no argument as to why this shouldn't be implemented!

Just chiming in. I'm definitely for this. Since you still have to wait out the 15km, it's basically the same action - just less annoying. Unless you're dreadfully paranoid, there's no reason to be against this if you're not against the Dock command.
I like consistency/congruity in UI function and this is a step in the right direction for that.

It's a good idea. I have proposed something similar a few months ago . It was about a jump button like the autopilot one that would light up when the ship is at jump range (and would be clickable).
