Well, what the subject says. It is not difficult to send an e-mail, saying "Hey buddy, your account will expire in 3 days, do not forget to buy a GTC". Every company who cares about their clients does it, so why not CCP?
It will also increase income from the game, as there will be less delay in account activation. That is, if a simple politeness argument does not fly.

A timer on character select screen would be the best solution.

At least make it a Popup like the Downtime Annoyer when you have less than 2 Days left. "Attention, your Pilot Licence is running out in <hours:minutes>. Make sure you pay your Fee! :)"

Well it could be client side. If character is running on timecode (or has canseled subscription) he will see timer somewhere in char cheet with remaining playtime.
Would be nice to have.

At this risk of sounding painfully obvious and nubbinesque - you do realise you can get that on the My Account tab of the eve-online homepage right?

I can say that a message 2-3 days before expiration could be wonderfull to see.
Carebear is the surname that others gives you, if you enjoy to play eve, in other way than the rest want YOU to play it. |

I don't check that page very often
The gym I go to sends me an SMS a week or so before my membership expires. I have an idea of when it's due anyway, but sms tells me the exact date.
When you are charging someone for a service, such as a game subscription, forcing people to actively seek out account basics like subscription expiry date is just plainly bad business.

Sure. That is, however, what usability is all about: make tools more readily available, demanding less effort on the part of the user. In our age people, you see, are extremely overloaded with all kinds of information. Users expect to be guided through their tools, so they can achieve their goals quicker. I really do have things to invest time and attention in, which now I have to dedicate to tasks, that can easily be automated.
