just wondering but how does IP banning work?
does that ban my ip or my internet supplier?
as for all the spam things i think they would be good, i was in jita for a few minutes and i saw spam like crazy, why people just don't put those things in contract instead of spamming like crazy is a little beyond me.

I got an idea to limit this...
Take a hint from World of Warcraft. Two actually.
1- Trial accounts cannot talk in any chat channel. General, Local Defense, Trade, etc. Put this same limitation in EvE-Online excluding private convo's and the Help Channel (obvious reasons). 2- In World of Warcraft, with you right click a player's name, there's an obvious option: "Report Spam". It sends a quick simple note to the developers with the character name for quick and easy termination.
Though I'm not sure how they do it. Could it not also be possible to disable mass-sending of EvEmails for trial/paying accounts? Since when is a normal player going to need to send that many? Perhaps limit trials to say, 10 evemails an hour sent, or just disable evemail entirely for trials.

I have a better idea.
Hire para-military forces to locate the central location where these isk-sellers do their business and have them summarily detained and deported to hidden secret CCP death-camps located on glacial masses in the north pole.
So to recap.
1. Hire military. 2. Military does work. 3. ? 4. Success 5. ? 6. Profit! ---
Put in space whales!

You want to get rid of isk sellers/farmers? Cut them off at the source.
We all know if you IP ban they will just get a proxy connection.
What is the one thing that would prevent a Chinese national from accessing the internet?
Politics, especially anti-communism politics.
Start adding anti-communist propoganda into the game and big red will shut them down quick.
As it is now, this is just a game and internet access is not restricted so long as it stays away from politics. Just like blogs.
Put those billboards out in space up to some good use, commercials lambasting the negatives of the current Chinese administration and as soon the boss see's this he will have to either close shop or risk operating against big red.
Which decision do you think he will make? It doesn't have to be rude nor racist, just blunt and to the point. Once it becomes political bloggers/gamers/internet users are required to get this stuff approved by big red. They will not if it is rhetoric making them look bad.
Don't think about it, just do it commrades! We must defeat the infestation and use their own weapons against them! muwhahahahahaa

How to get rid of spam easily? Use the ingame mechanics CCP have provided you. Petition them. They keep coming back? Sure they do, but petitioning them one at a time is better than fapping around on the forums. Do something about it yourself.
GMs take note of isk spam petitions in minutes so you aren't wasting any petition slots. I've reported up to 15 in the last month and they've all been cleared in under 10 minutes easy - in most cases 2-3 minutes.
Yesterday i logged in and found some turd/bot spamming npc corp chat extemely frequently. Stopped very soon after my petition closed.
Do your bit - report them. |

Trial accounts must be allowed to talk on the Help channel, the Corp channel, and Local, as these three are where most newbies ask their questions. I answer newbie questions in Corp and Local every day, and several veterans frequent and answer the Help channel.
Problem is that those three channels are where the spammers spam too.
The Report Spam feature is nice, and I'd like to see it block that user's entire account (all the alts), like it does in WoW, but as far as the manpower to sort through the reports and do the banning, I don't think CCP has that kind of manpower. Some of the petitions take up to 7 days to answer, whatever manpower they have is busy busy.

this should be a no-brainer....
most mmo's have profanity filters. just write one that blocks strings like "isk" or "1000M" or "$" or "euros" or all the ways isk sellers advertise.
then, write a script that looks for these strings and flags the characters who repeatedly enter them. if a character racks up 10 flags in 10 minutes, bam, ejected from the game and account locked.
done.

You don't have to gimp any current abilties, and GMs can keep banning at their leisure, theres a simpler solution (at least in my opinion).
Hardware ban the ISK sellers, this way, at least they have to shell out money to buy new equipment or somehow find out what piece of hardware was banned.
Not only a pain in the a** for them, but no legit trial account would be try to sell ISK in the first place, so its no harm to newer users.
