What about blowing up the wreck before they can loot it?

the last suggestion makes more sense. You want a frigate to engage a pod, solo, in high-sec, when concord has already spawned just moments before to kill the pirates... You better have some crazy alpha, cuz they instalock and permajam.

Sure, but they've locked and jammed the gankers, not you... Once you've fired they lock yu, and whatever, but not before. If you can get a lock off in a few seconds, and manage a shot or two, the pod will pop and then so will your lil ship...

In thinking about all this another thing you could do without much trouble would be to just be on hand and grab all the loot yourself before the pirate buddies can, then give it back to the poor ganked guy. Karma people, do good, have good done to you...

Edited by: Ki An on 25/02/2008 20:57:30 Just for you, Tania Russ, I've put together a little tutorial called "Edit Your Post 101".
Step 1: Make a post. The post can be about anything. Extra credits for calling pirates griefers and claim that they bring nothing to the game.
Step 2: Think over your post. It is important that you post first and think second.
Step 3: Press the orange text above your post that says Edit. This will bring you back to a screen that looks like the one where you made your post in the first place. You will even see the contents of your post there.
Step 4: Ammend your original post with whatever you thought up in Step 2.
Step 5: Press Update.
Voila! Your post has been edited, and there's no reason for posting multiple times in a row.
Look at the top of this post to see what editing your post also adds to it.

No they won't. Come back when you know game mechanics.
I thought only war targets and -5.0 sec outlaws could be podded in high sec? If a non-outlaw commits a crime against you in high sec - you and concord can blow up his ship - but not the pod.
Then again it's been a while since I was in high sec.... __________________________________________________ Sup brosef! Destry's Lounge is looking for a few good drunks - contact me in game.

Also I hope you didn't actually like going to Empire, because after a few pods you're going to not be able to go back :D

Well, to everyone who participated in this thread, thanks... But the point is moot. Apparently we don't know the game mechanics as well as we should. Pods are apparently invulnerable in highsec. They can't even be locked. So the whole idea is moot. It's too bad, because it might have been fun. :) CCP are the pirates, so they probably thought of this already, and wanting to remove the opportunity for anyone to maybe get a little of their own back in, they made it impossible, ah well.

Err what are you smoking? You can suicide a pod in highsec, they're not invulnerable.
They just warp instantly, and you can bet the guy with implants is mashing the warp button as concord is blowing up his ship.

Seriously, have you ever actually pressed F1 with something other than an asteroid locked?
Be honest now.

If you really want to suicide alts to annoy high sec gankers fly around and shoot someone to trigger concord spawns everywhere the gankers are camping.
It makes their job much harder if there is no delay and concord can do their thing immediately.

Interesting ... would attacking the suicide gankers prior to the freighter's arrival be a legitimate corporate tactic for a scout? Must ponder...

Originally by: Tania Russ High sec kamikaze style piracy has become a real problem for those of us who actually build stuff and accomplish something worthwhile in Eve, as opposed to pirates, who basically don't accomplish anything but stealing other people's stuff.
Somebody has to indiscriminately blow stuff up to drive the economy. I don't think the Atron will pop the pod before CONCORD insta pops you, a destroyer would be best. A lot of the time you'll be managing at least one alt (to loot) and you won't bother warping out your pod right away. Of course, it's an act of piracy itself, and the sec hit alone will have you grinding for a couple days each pop to keep yourself in 1.0.
And nah, it won't really impact suicide ganking. People would just start insta warping their pods out (you won't catch a pod doing this without a bubble regardless of scan resolution in highsec because just a little bit of lag is all it takes), or using a combat jump-clone to do it if it got really bad (it wouldn't, most of y'all are toothless carebears. Born victims who can't stomach combat, and who wouldn't tolerate the sec status timesink that a podding induces for something so insubstantial). And a lot of people already use alts to do it.
On the other hand, you're of the perfect disposition to become an antipirate (Arrrrr) if you ever want to hang up the market PvP hat. v0v

While I do consider hi-sec ganking to be amongst the lamest of the lame, this is the most entertaining thing I've read all day.
I mean pirates... stealing. Who'd a thunk it?

if you want to p-off high sec suicide gankers, hang around in a shuttle wherever there gang is congregating and steal the loot before they do - all the reward without the risk!

Edited by: Tania Russ on 26/02/2008 03:28:29 :) Ha ha ha... ;D Ooooh man. (Wipes tear from eye) ...Yup that was funny. You guys make it almost too easy. I love the vitriolic responses "You ever press F1 targeting anything but a rock??? Garrr!!!" Hee hee hee... Well yeah, you're right, good job! You got me. I was messing with ya. Yes, you can lock pods in highsec and yes, this plan could work. But is anyone ballsy enough to try it? Let's see some people step up and put out a little "toothless" carebear payback. I dare ya. I don't care about loot and I don't care about monetary damages. But there's just something, I don't know, PERSONAL about podding a pirate, isn't there? :)

Edited by: Rachael Ray on 27/02/2008 00:18:11 Edited by: Rachael Ray on 27/02/2008 00:17:41 How about you just fit a normal ship, venture into low-sec and pod a pirate that way. I am pretty sure that will be easier than your camping Hi-Sec for a pirate pod idea.
To put your idea into perspective, your idea is like a drop of water in the ocean of Eve. You will not make the slightest bit of difference. Even comparing your idea to the drop of water is an overestimation.
Play this game for longer than 2 days, come back and tell us what you think of your idea.
