There is one reason why WoW can never hold a candle to Eve Online.
In WoW, if someone ****es you off you can't do a thing about it.
In Eve, if someone ****es you off the tools are available for you to thoroughly *****them and their allies on a bed of hot coals in ways mother nature never intended! In Eve you can even go so far as to drive another player away from the game forever if they can't stomach the treatment. (the ultimate pod kill) The ability to inflict true loss on others, especially those who deserve it, is what defines Eve.
It is this dynamic that makes Eve so great and people need to stop asking for more WoWisms in the game and just play Eve.

Nothing ticks you off more than a ganker that can walk away from griefing you because they're 70 levels higher than you.
Thankyou CCP for allowing sweet... sweet... revenge on eve.

Because people will always insist on making pointless comparisons.
They're both MMOs. The similarity stops THERE.

I think the question this thread is trying to aks is why are some people ( wow players for instance ) adamant that nonconsensual PvP is a bad thing. Of course we pilots realize that the more PvP orientated nature of eve allows for a greater challenge. And I think some people like us love the extra dimension of gameplay of a long struggle against an adaptive opponent and other people like them ( wow ) are emotionally insecure and cannot handle losing sometimes to other players.

If only Eve would get rid of alts, then it would be truly epic. I never hide behind an alt. That's the fun of Eve, you are your character.

It's funny, on the wow forums, if you mention Eve online, people will have absolutley no idea what you are talking about.
Yet on the Eve-O forums...

Yes, and not a very smart one. What he fails to realize is that most ganks involve someone with tens of millions of SP and billions of isk smearing someone who's been playing for less than 4 months, who stands no chance at revenge against the attacker, much less his allies.

What's funny is your insecurity. Humor me pls, must your play style or preference be dictated unto others? Alot of EVE players are insecure(actually, just the ones that incessantly bad mouth WoW), sad but true, funny how there's always some kind of negative comparison of WoW, when WoW players are oblivious of your existence.

Actually, Eve is filled with folks who have turned around and taken their revenge on such attackers and their allies. Not everyone runs, crying to mommy when they get bitten. Perhaps you should give it a try sometime?

When you mention Eve on the WoW forums you typically get assaulted by the bitter replies and noob tears of folks who ran screaming back to WoW after they found out that they couldn't fly back to their wreck as a ghost ship and miraculously get their ship and fittings back. That doesn't sound very oblivious to me.

Actually, that is a blatant lie, majority of WoW players, have no idea as to what EvE is, they don't even need to, why?, bcos they enjoy what they play, thus satisfaction.
Now EvE players like yourself, continue to make irrelevant comparisons of 2 mmos, in which their setting and game play mechanic couldn't be any further diff than it already is. You sir are the bitter one

It's hard to be bitter when I'm having the time of my life nuking folks like you and taking your stuff that you farmed so hard to get. There is nothing more satisfying than adding more carebear corpses to my collection and collecting the fan mail they send. If anything, it sounds like you spend most of your time on the losing side and your noob tears are truly delicious. But if it helps you to sleep at night thinking that I'm bitter, than by all means continue to do so.

Rules of being an Eve Online fan boy:
1) You must have a rabid burning hatred of WoW, even though it has absolutely no resemblance to Eve-Online. The fact that it is significantly more popular is irrelevant because the people who play it are slack jawed idiots.
2) At every possible opportunity, you must show your love for Eve by belittling all other online role-playing videogames.
3) You must desperately hold deep in your heart the belief that Eve is perfect in every way (except for the Amarr). Any flaw or unsavoury aspect of Eve brought up in discussion, is simply due to the others lack of understanding of the absolute glory which is Eve-Online.
4) You donĘt need to post good reasons as to why Eve superior, the blatant absolute boldness of your statement will bludgeon others in to agreeing with you. If someone disagrees with you, they are clearly a fifteen-year-old, and should go back to WoW.
5) People who play Eve-Online are just strictly smarter than everyone else. This is obvious, because if others were smarter, they would be playing Eve.

The differences between WoW and Eve are so small. And mainly terminology. Mana or capacitor, skills or modules, crowd control or ECM, they all serve the same purpose.
The OP claims he can drive someone from the game, I would propose that is only possible if his victim is a stupid as the OP. What is he going to do to someone in an NPC corp that never leaves high sec?
There are differences between WoW and Eve, but mostly they are the same. Mainly killing mobs for cash and stuff. With a bit of PvP.

I would agree with everything I've quoted there except i'd say mainly pvp with a bit of killing mobs for cash n stuff

The differences between the two are huge. Eve is a PvP game at the core. If you want something, you will need to take it from another player. Essentially, your gain is somebody elses loss. WoW is a PvE game at the core where if you want something, you can get it by repeating the same predictable quest series over and over again. I suppose, if you like beating your head against a wall, you can grind NPC missions in Eve until you can afford what you want. But it's much faster to go out and just take it from someone else who already has what you want.

i also propose that eve WTFPWNS the hell out of the colour green, by the game mechanic of time based skillpoint accumulation as opposed to the pointless grind of having to look at things that are green in 'normal' light to know with any degree of certainty that they are actually green.

The real reason why Eve will be bigger then WoW is that you can grief people. There are no battlegrounds. There are alot more options for engaging in NON-consensual pvp, THATS what makes eve so different from all other MMOs.
Bear in mind, thats pretty much the only thing Eve has over WoW. WoW pve is >>>>>>> then eve pve. Thats why I dont even understand people that play EvE for the pve aspect. There are games that are centuries ahead in that department. -------------------------------------- The Inquisition III - Relentless Retaliation |

Thats because alot of players here also play wow and have lvl 70 night elf females they fap to as they camp gates or mine. Eve and wow run just fine at the same time. Of course they would never admit to it and bash wow at every opportunity to throw people off.

76% of all players think that "beating their head against a wall" is the exact method of playing EvE, scince these 76% of players stay in high sec their entire Eve-Life, which lasts 7 months on average.
The rest of 24% of players operate in low and null sec were enormous amount of NPC grinded and roid mined value is destroyed everyday without changing hands thanks to game mechanics.
EvE is no more PvP than WoW, at least not the people playing it, while eve might have more options to pvp overall, they are mostly unused. And thats a fact jack. Took the statitic from the QENs.

Nah, my character started PVPing first chance he got (admittedly with consensual duels, which are kinda lame) and yesterday got a solo kill on a significantly older player. A newbie can PVP and easily win against significantly more experienced players. Especially when the target is dumb (see my killboard).
