My girlfriend plays puzzle pirates. I tried showing her eve but there are 2 complications:
Firstly, she'd be the type to pirate. Mining/Hauling/Trading/Ratting don't seem to hold the appeal of pewpew.
Secondly, she has a very short attention span. Eve is just too steep a learning curve for someone to take on when they're only semi interested and wanna do the complicated stuff but not put in the time to learn.

Since my gf goes to a college a significant distance from me, during the school year the aggro isn't that bad. She's not quite as hardcore as me, but she's still a gamer, though she's still stuck with a Guild Wars obsession...So even when we do get together, we're usually just sitting next to each other conversing while playing laptops. Cheapest and most maintenance free gf I've ever had

I once had a GF who didn't mind "entertaining" me whilst mining... nastiest little ***** i ever did meet, but she did have that one redeeming quality (and oooohhhhhhh for that redeeming quality)

My gf doesn't know that I play yet.
Understandable though, since we go to 2 different universities on opposite sides of the country. (canada, which is almost like the opposite sides of the planet >.<)
Sincerly doubt she'll care too much about it once I tell her though, she's a gamer as well.

Alt tabbed on msn talkin to my friend and my girlfriend comes online so we start talkin, i alt tab to check on eve and a neut has came into system, i go outside and scan down this harbringer doing missions, dock up go quickly alt tab to find like 20 msg's from her, say **** this and log off msn, camp him when he docks and pop him, had to tell her my internet crashed when she called me to interrogate why i didnt repond and just logged off. She replies with "bull**** i know your playin eve, please".

She'll look over my shoulder and ask, "Seany, who's winning?" Me being the literalist have no idea how to answer that.  or,
I get, ...errr...I forgot the other one...had somthing to do with warp drives, cause it's like the only thing the game actually says. So she' like picking it up and using it sarcastically against me. lol
In general she reaally doesn't like it but she hass required me to, "Go back to school", which pretty much waxes any free time I have to relax. Which I then am able to parley into Eve time. I sit with her as she watches Desperate housewives and I play!

My GF passionately hates EVE, kind of jealous that I chat with the guys on TS and have a blast. I've heard all the nags imaginable. I've timed gaming to hours when she's at work and our son is asleep. She sure likes EVE when I log off. You should have heard the outrage when I suggested getting our son an account now so he would be fully trained by age he could play...  Women..you can not be without them but neither live with them...

Meh, the better half plays pro violin, so she's off practising 4 hours a day to get better. Meaning more EVE time for me, and infact she insists that I "Geek Out" because its healthy for the relationship...

Had the ex who would only let me play after she went to bed, so got out of that.
Met my now-wife on EQOA on the PS2 and we both played EQ2 for 2 years. She understands gaming :)
She played a bit of WoW after that, but got bored, she had a look at Eve, but it just looked a bit too complex for her :s
Now she watches Oprah and all sorts of girlie rubbish, and I play Eve, weekend days are family time, but the evenings are mine.

My GF and I are the same age, but I'm in my first year of uni, and she's doing an Art Foundation course, which will get her into uni next year. Right now we're about 80km apart so when she's up in London, I don't play EvE, when I'm down I don't play EvE, and it's all fair and good.
She still thinks I'm a bit weird though, but we're both "artists" of sorts, so I can say much the same about her, as she has every last Buffy the Vampire Slayer episode on VIDEO.

1st gf I got after starting to play Eve was a complete WoW-addict. No worries there, except the occasional argument between who would win: A Tauren Shaman with some epic piece of wooden staff or a Raven armed to the teeth with nukes. She never really got the whole concept of planetary bombardement 
2nd gf left me as soon as I said "It's an MMOR-". Apparently the guy she ditched for me had been a major WoW-geek 
My current gf doesn't know about it, and I plan to keep it that way.
Lesson learned I guess
