I was wondering what is the highest dps that I can get from a battleship not faction or T2 at 250km. I assume it is a cruise raven with four BCS II. But can any turret ships outdo that?

I didn't know that cruise missiles could travel that far. Skeptical. But, if I had to put my money on it without doing some math, i would say mega?

Yeah it is the cruise Raven by some margin. The Apoc will do comparable dps out to 200km if and when the changes go through. Worth remembering that all the advantages of guns at range completely outweigh a cruise Raven regardless of dps though. :P

The Rokh can hit out to 250km with ease not sure on the damage but it can do it with a much less compromised setup than anything else as it wont need as many tracking comps etc.

*warning a bit of EFT warrioring* *Add: yes I know it doesnt mirror reality, but it CAN do the math for us* *Note: Your dumb if you use the setups here, seriously* *Note 2: Theoretically the average damage is calculated, which over say, 1000 battles, will be about right* *Note 3: So yeah =)*
So.. doing a bit of EFTing with regards to the above
Taking an unrealistic Raven yeah it does the most damage.. (see below)
Also be aware, a Mega, cant actually reach 250km, 241 is max, but yeah.. Taking an Unrealistic Mega/4x Mag, 3x Track Enhance, 1x Track Comp, 3x Sensor Boost + Spike, does 354 Taking an unrealistic Rokh/4x Mag, 1x RC, 4x Track Comp, 2x Sens Boost + Dread Iridum does 340 Both ranges are identical, 211+30 (so effectivly 240km, Rokh with spike can EASILY hit 250 + tank btw)
While the raven does more damage in EFT/Paper.. Uh, theyre bloody missiles, you know how long the flight time will be in a fleet battle? Even if your FO calls 7 primaries in advance, and you target the 7th, you aint hitting anything. Not at that range anyways.
Do you mean most damage at 150km? ie the range most fleet battles actually happen? :P Im sure I can pop out a decent Rokh setup that does it due to the massive range and the ability to use better ammo @ range..
But yeah, Ravens arent used much due to the flight time. I have seen them used as calvary (yea oldskool raven calvary!) and rushed in secondary to the front lines at shortish range (0-50) along with close range Hyps/Megas/Armgs)
Again.. Math only, does not equate reality. Those are THEORETICAL only.

Well this is the raven I use....
2 senor Boosters - 3 BCU's - 3 missile Velocity Rigs - max missile skills = happy raven 8)
What does this thing do? Lock at 249.9km - check Be able to hit at 249.9km - check.... actually near 350km dont slow down and turn inties muahahahaha. Be able to hit before tacklers die? - check. Missiles do near 13km/sec. Dampen target for locking time. Missiles hit before they get lock..... happy tacklers, dead targets.
That is why the raven is the best sniper in the game. I challenge ANY fleet of 40 or more ships against the same number of ravens..... lets see who wins 8).

As far as i know missiles do not deal damage once they go past your locking range which is capped at 250 km... amirite ?

raven, my cruise go like 190kmish. cal bs 3, missile projection 3, missile bombardment 5. max skills and 3 speed rigs, over 350km. 370ish mixing and matching rigs (flight speed/time).
next closest would be rohk, or trinity 1.1 apoc.
most snipers try to operate at about 150km though.

All ships do 0 DPS at 250km, because the max locking range is 249.99km :)
But on max locking range a maxed skill pilot with a t2 fitted raven could do around 450 dps And a rokh could do around 320 dps
Sure u can get higher numbers with rigs, implants and faction/officer fitting

Missiles still do dmg couple seconds after you lose lock of the ship. I observed this with stealth bombers when u still did dmg after u cloaked and lost lock. I'm not sure about the exact time ur missles are still active, though it could be up to 10secs I guestimate.
So the Burn Eden guy is probably right.

At least with the bombers, not really. :/ Yes, you will do damage if your missiles hit 2-3 seconds after you pressed cloak. After some testing i came to the folowing conclusion:
As long as the cloak ANIMATION is running, your missiles will do damage....and ships vanish from overview before the cloaking-animation itself is finished.

no offense, but i call BS. far as i am aware missiles lose the ability to lock there target if the ship firing them looses lock.
sorry, smells of BS to me.

- 3x BCU II - 2x SB II (range script) - 6x T2 Cruise Launcher w/ precision missiles - 2x T2 missile rig - 1x T2 missile rig - All level V char - Implant for increased flight time (+5%)
Maximum flight distance: velocity * flight time = 12903 m/s * 15.75s = 203.2km
Or do you need flight time mods/rigs ?

Edit: even with flight time rigs on it (2x T2 and 1x T1) you get maximum flight time of 216.3km...
try with standard/faction cruise missiles, no implants, all rigs used were t1 I get 190kmish. cal bs 3, missile projection 3, missile bombardment 5. no rigs max skills and 3 speed rigs, a bit over 350km. max skills also gets 370km with 2 flight speed 1 flight time rigs.

40 gunships vs 40 Ravens would depend a lot on the quality of the support and anti-support that's with them. If the Ravens can keep their primary scrambled long enough for the missiles to hit and have a good deal of salvo coordination (i.e. not wasting missiles on targets that are about to die), then yes they could very well dominate fleet battles at absolutely stupid ranges. 1. If you shoot at a tempest at a pos, and he runs back into the shields thinking he is safe, proceed to laugh as they continue to hit him and do damage as he explodes in the shields 8).
2. Missiles have rediculous ranges! They do not lose lock as long as you are still on grid, even if you do not have your target locked the missiles are still giving chase. Laugh as the little interceptor turns at 300km away to come back and tackle you again only to realize the missiles caught him and popped him.
3. If you are aligned to a gang mate while shooting a target on the gate.... then warp to that gang member, you will lose lock. However since you did not leave grid or cloak those missiles still in flight will continue to hit the enemy and deal damage.

I know most of the time I'm in a raven I hit F1 - F6. Usually the F-7 and F-8 are not useful for shooting people in the beginning of a battle (Usually it's a neut/smartbomb, double neut, or double smartbomb)

Dunno what you guys are talking about but a tempest or megathron are way better fleet snipers than a raven, most if not all FCs should kick all missiles users out of the fleet because for fleet sniping insta-damage is everything. guns do way more dps too. only caldari noobs think that their raven is a viable fleet sniper.
megathron with spike can kill a raven at 200km before a raven can scratch it's paint.

Actually, raven will tank that mega almost forever, since he can fit tank and shoot far.
Not trying to say that raven is usable as fleet sniper, but you should really learn to play before coming to forums and making bold statements.

Hmmm.... I did check it :( 2 sensor booster IIs with range script gives you about 228km locking range. With signal amplifier II in low it is 249km. Speed of cruise missile with 3x bcus, 3x hydraulic bay thrusters about 11906 m/s. Range is about 357 km with lvl 5 skills. However it is interesting setup. How do you fit the rest? Like this: 3XBallistic Control System II Signal Amplifier II Damage Control II
2XSensor Booster II,Targeting Range Large Shield Booster II Photon Scattering Field II 2XInvulnerability Field II
