I believe Ikasu mentioned fencing. I myself have been fencing epee for a good five years now, though prior commitments have gotten in the way these last few weeks.
*Glances contemptuously at the tarnished bell-guard of his practice sword, comparing it with the unspoiled virgin splendor of his competition-approved epee, nonfunctional though it is*
The electronics stopped working when a small, important-looking washer popped out of the tip as I was trying to replace a contact spring. At least I think it was a washer, since I managed to catch a glimpse of a small, shiny ring flickering through the air before it escaped into some remote corner of the room, never again to be found. And since then the little bugger's tip hasn't been responding. Anyway, I still have the practice-blade, so at least there's that.

And, possibly, some other parts of you, at least until they imprint upon you as their pack-master. Don't worry though, each animal comes with puncture-proof training attire (among many other accessories necessary to raising a healthy Slaver), which the owner should wear around the animal until loyalty is assured. Or, really, to be safe, until their third set of teeth comes in. They really like to gnaw while teething, and an 800 PSI set of jaws gnawing on your exposed forearms is rarely a good thing.

Well there's a few things...
Firstly I walk through my ships, Seeing my crew and swapping notes with engineers and officers. I guess i'm not too talkative but it usually makes the crew feel better knowing that the pod pilot views them as people rather than drones that don't make any difference if they live or die.
I spend alot of time in my quarters too.. Listening to music. Usually something based on ancient music although some modern music is good too. Electro-Metal, Cyber-Rave, Death-Rock.. Though sometimes I like other things. That Midna Lyre's latest music seems to have stirred some things up.. But it is great music.
Uh. I also sometimes make a run into Amarr space for a bottle of their spirits.. I like to spend time alone with a glass of Amarrian spirits, Looking over either historical documents about the Matari slave uprising and learning about my history.. Or attempting to learn the most minute details of each and every Amarr vessel that I pilot. I rarely have company other than my comms channel..
There used to be more.. But.. *sighs*

What an excellent topic, Captain Ikasu! It certainly makes a change from all the smack-talk and doom and gloom you normally see on GalNet.
I absolutely love Haute Couture, particularly from Gallente designers. My favourite would have to be Sebastian LaCroix û his work with metallics and various other alternative materials is simply divine. In fact, Gallente fashion in general really appeals to my sense of style. Caldari also, albeit to a lesser extent. However, there really is nothing like wearing clothing tailored exclusively for you, especially when you know it is the only one in the entire cluster.
Like Ms. DÆSarth I also enjoy a game of MindClash. I began watching the bouts broadcasted on the FTL channels a few months ago, and recently bought myself a neural interface for the game. IÆm just an amateur really, but like Rathera said, it has an interesting way of putting things into perspective, especially if you replay one of your recorded battles.
More generally, I love sampling all the different cultures from all over the cluster. I love visiting different worlds in different sectors, experiencing the diverse cultures û food, music, art and the like. There are just so many things to see! I have a special liking for Caldari traditional arts, especially calligraphy.
I like to be eclectic in my music tastes, so I have everything from Gallente electro-rave to Minmatar industrial rock in my playlist.

And I also read a magazine called Cat Fancy. It's about . . . pets.
*The pilot shifts uncomfortably*
...What? It's my business what I do in my spare time, right? Whereas some read magazines or practice weapon skills I like... cats.
*The holoreel ends after an inconceivably awkward pause, and a well-placed facepalm.* I fear no evil for I am fear incarnate. |

I have to say, there is nothing wrong with a pilot having a love of pets. I have a dog which I often leave in my quarters station side and, hell, when I go on safe missions I take him with me. He even has his own little escape pod with doggie treats in it.

I'm glad to see so many fencers here. I've always thought it was not just a beautiful art, but one of the few true sword styles left, especially the epee and rapier. It seems like real swordplay gets lost amongst movies and animes where people swing around swords crazily and call it skill. As for classical music, yes I do enjoy it, and I love listening to fast beat rock during flight. After all, 60 beats a second or more stimulates the brain. Or was it more then sixty? Oh well. --------------------------------------------------

Ms. Cherri, there seems to be some sort of distortion or fault in your communications apparatus. You might want to have a certified capsule engineer check it for defects. ----- "I am prepared to meet my maker; whether my maker is prepared for the great ordeal of meeting me is another matter." |

I love to go home to the mountains of Matar and mountain climb. There is nothing more thrilling than scaling sheer ice cliffs. Other than that I love to cook and bake. I listen to all types of music from Classical to the new retro Jazz, found in some of the newer clubs on Matar, as well as Mosh-Pit Thrash.

I like to keep up with the hand to hand and knife fighting skills I picked up at the Republic Military School. Also, I like to blade dance so that I can perform well at the more formal clan gatherings. It can be difficult to find a partner for that though.
In quieter moments I like to read up on archaeology and the latest findings in the field. I especially like to collect translated poetry and prose recovered by various expeditions. An example is in my current pilot bio, assuming the system hasn't blanked it again. One day I will likely study the subject more seriously. Regards,

Never expected some pod pilots live such thrilling lives.
Whenever I have a few free minutes, I take them to take care of my pet, so when it comes to hobbies, I'd say that's my priority, of course it doesn't really end there.
I actually read a lot, I mostly focus my reading on culture and habits of occupants of the solar systems I visit, if I get the chance, I'll actually go down planet side, and see some of the local monuments. It's actually really amazing how much diversity there is in space. I think the cultural diversity is often being ignored. It's the reason why I became a pod pilot in the first place I guess.
I also see lots of music fans, occasionally I'll listen to some "brain music" or however you call it, there are some other names for it, I personally despise this term. It's not well known or popular, since life performances tend to be a bit... strange I guess is the best way to put it. It's a form of music that's based on the read-outs of your current brain waves, most of the people would expect it sounds pretty generic, but it's really not true, the music is usually programed, so you load the music into your 'reader' and based on the program and the output it produces sound. The program usually consists of functions that are bound to certain frequencies, but I've seen some amazing work done, that actually adapts over time, scans certain frequencies and reprograms itself to suit your mood better. If anyone ever has the chance, or a few extra ISK to spare, I recommend you try it out. It's really something.

I've been trying to run my own distellery, so far i've been able to create brews that don't kill you outright, but the taste still makes your tongue to crawl out and move to a more pleasant host, so i need to find some stuff to add some proper taste to it.
If I'm mining i'm just quietly enjoying the humming of my laser, it relaxes me. I also try out the local brews if i come to a station i've not visited yet.
I've got some books with me aswell, but i've read them all, some twice so i defenitly need to buy some new, but right now most of my fortune goes to keeping my barge running.

Thargan, you might try Chazera plums, straight from subtropical Intaki Prime. They have to be very thoroughly pulped to make a good gin but it's really fairly hard to muck up the taste - brilliant stuff, gets you drunk pretty quickly and mixes well with Quafe and other soft drinks. The only problem is that you really can't drink very much of it on its own because the liquid produced is fairly viscous - it either has to be watered down slightly (which dilutes both the alcohol content and the disctinctive taste) or sold with specific mixing instructions.
Also... just... DON'T drink too much of that stuff. It will screw you up good. Me and MirrorGod once got hammered on the stuff and we thought we were coffee mugs.

This seems like a very bizzare place to make my first post to the GalNet, considering that it is distinctly less serious in tone than what I normally maintain.
However, it actually fits with something that came up earlier today.
I have two main hobbies. Firstly, I study. I haven't quite gotten out of the scholarship mind-set, and so I find I have a tendency to stockpile textbooks from many different areas.
Secondly, I keep a single bonsai tree, as much for practical purposes as entertainment. It is small, but it takes a very minimal load off of my ships life-support, which in turn means I have slightly more energy with which to power my ship.
My third hobby, of course, is making money. I didn't count that since it is also my job (of course).

Pilot TseTong,
Your bonsai, is it of the redbark or longleaf variety? I enjoy the scent of the redbarks, but the deep blue leaves on the longleaf is pretty. I am considering the ramifications of attempting to crossbreed the species. Please visit your user settings to re-enable images. This is where I found my Sig. |

It is long leaf in the formal upright style. I find that the higher oxygen content of a ships atmosphere subtly changes the scents of things, and as such I do not consider scent in most of my choices.
