Edited by: Arthur Frayn on 02/03/2008 06:22:24 Could a Hyperion offer better dps and survive with a single rep?
My Astarte setup:
7 x 250mm railgun II + navy antimatter
1 x Shadow Serp Tracking Comp 1 x Sensor Booster 1 x Afterburner II 1 x Cap Recharger
1 x True Sansha medium armor rep 2 x Hardeners of choice 1 x Cap Power Relay II 2 x Navy Magstabs
2 x CCC
With this setup I have been successful in soloing every lvl 4 I've come across. The medium armor rep gives me 495 armor points repped every 8.73 seconds with a 3% rep speed implant. It tends to melt through all NPCs I've come across, even with the limited damage types.
Now, applying the same wisdom to a Hyperion setup:
8 x 350mm Railguns
2 x Shadow Serp Tracking comps 1 x Afterburner II 2 x Cap recharger II
1 x True Sansha large armor rep 2 x Navy Magstabs 3 x Hardeners of choice
3 x CCC
I have omitted the cap power relay in favour of the extra room a cap recharger and CCC will afford me. I don't have large hybrids to level 5 nor Gallente battleship to level 5 - yet.
In getting those skills up, would this setup be viable? It will of course be much slower and have a higher sig radius, meaning I won't be able to dogfight like I do in my Astarte to reduce damage. It will also have marginally lower resists. I'll compare the setups in EFT for an idea of the DPS and tanking difference, but EFT doesn't really cut it most of the time.
Opinions?

Well EFT indicated I'd have roughly equal dps with my current skills, and my cap would run out after three minutes rather than fifteen with my Astarte. And my resists would be marginally worse. Removing the afterburner in favour of another cap recharger would improve my cap duration to just under six minutes, but I suppose it's pointless when I already have a ship that can do a better job anyway.
Is there a better Hype setup out there?

Sentry Dominix 6x D250 Rail II 3x Omni, 3x Cap Recharger 2x Navy LAR, 3x Hardener II, DC II, SS MFS 2x Sentry Drone Aug 5x T2 Sentries / Assorted drones
350mm Mission Hype 8x 350mm Rail II 3x Cap Recharger II, 2x SS TC Navy LAR, 3x Hardener II, 2x SS MFS 2x CCC, Aux Nano Pump
Maybe consider replacing a TC with a SB if it's necessary.

Edited by: ThatCpp on 02/03/2008 06:53:04 Sounds good, but with advanced weapons upgrades V you will likely be able to swap 6 guns for 425mm's. Not too sure though as I swapped to a navy mega before I finished AWU 5.
Most missions you will start or acceleration gate to within 50km or so from most NPC ships and the others close in pretty quickly as long as you draw aggro early, so I doubt the hype will require a sensor booster.

it's all in the skills, you'll need to train up first.
